FlightAware Link for Purdue Airport

You need to check out his coaching history and record. He has been a winner everywhere he has gone and is more than an academy coach running the wishbone. Not sure he is my #1 choice but he would be a great coach for our program.

agree, everyone assumes he'd run the Bone here and he wouldn't, he just has to at the academy
Who cares if he runs the wishbone or triple option? If he wins, he wins. Fans will get on board if it leads to winning.

Paul Johnson put up Joe Tiller-like numbers at Georgia Tech running the triple option. Hell, how many people called Tiller's offense "gimmicky"? Can't work in the B1G. And, yet, he won.

not knowing much about Army, but just looking at their OL, those guys are put together, they have those stout builds similar to Chuky Okobi. They are definitely strongly looking than our OL. One thing about getting a coach from an academy, you're not getting players to come along w/ the coach

Army tonight in the AAC championship:
0 penalties
0 turnovers (2 forced)
44% 3rd down efficiency
80% 4th down efficiency
35 points scored
7 points given up

Pretty neat, but if you’re aware of this the University is aware of you being aware of this.

Think of the reverse psy-ops moves they could be pulling:
* picking someone up from a third-party airport nowhere near their origination point.
* flying dummy flights to places they want real candidates or just the public to believe they might be traveling to for a head football coach interview.
* or none of the above, and maybe somebody just paid me to put this out there so y’all wouldn’t take it as seriously.

Hmmm :)
I've never met you, how do we know you are real?

You could be Q.

I love everything about the Army coach, but worry about recruiting and staff and with current Purdue roster he won't be bringing any players along. I would add NIL but in Purdue case I would worry about NIL if Saban was coach.

Understandable. But the portal makes rebuilding or reshaping a roster more realistic.

Aren't the Army players all committed to stay with Army? Their coach couldn't bring half the team.

The Purdue airport is usually pretty busy, but interesting at looking at some of the further distance comings and goings.....

Incoming this morning/early afternoon:

Jet from Fort Wayne
Jet from San Antonio, TX
Jet from DC area
Jet from Lancaster, PA
Jet from New Jersey (close to the Rutgers area)

Some of these line up with either areas close to some names that have been bantered around or close to larger schools.

I don't have a FlightAware account, so can't really go back in history to see the last couple of days, so who knows what else might be out there. I'm not seeing the Purdue jet coming and going from the list....many of these are from a couple of rent-a-jet companies.
Not gonna lie it seems like you guys put more time into this than the staff on this site.

There are ways of getting out of your military commitment. I doubt any member of Army would do it or leave Army to follow their football coach to come to Purdue.

West Point cadets are military first, academies second and athletics third!

As I said, there are many students who have left the academy. There are many examples of military members who got out of their military commitments to become professional athletes.

But to leave one of the academies to transfer to Purdue? Ha ha ha ha. That’s funnier than one of my posts.

I also have doubts of their recruiting abilities. Maybe lacrosse players. But football?

Yeah and that's the problem.

It takes years to get accepted at Army. The only ones leaving are usually the ones who don't survive Beast Barracks.

Absolutely not.
Doesn’t have to recruit to Army
No NIL
No NFL players
No players to bring with him who can make an immediate impact.
Purdue needs to aim higher.

Not gonna attract any nfl talent running that offense.

Purdue is too cheap to fly "dummy flights". Don't give them that much credit

All joking aside, does anyone really think that would be anything other than a collasal waste of resources?

Now, maybe schedule a few aviation student practice flights to Des Moines or Memphis?

Tom said last time they flew to Mt Comfort Airport, and Walters drove from Champaign and met them there.
After reading this, I expanded the airport search, partially because I remembered seeing a good volume of coming and going to other airports.

It's very interesting to look at Frankfort/Clinton County airport and also the Indianapolis Executive (Mt. Comfort and others), and also Purdue directly. I think you could make case that a lot of arrivals/departures could be potentially linked to many of the coach names being thrown around, I simply don't have time to parse this all out. Though, it is interesting.

One thing that I'm wondering is if they're bringing in multiple coaches nearly simultaneously, but to different regional airports and Bobinski is bouncing between these airports to meet with the coaches without them running into one another. I only thought to look at Frankfort, because I thought it was interesting the number of flights between Purdue and Frankfort seemed high and some of the aircraft flying those routes did not seem like standard student-issued models.

Anyway, fun to think about.

I, for one, have enjoyed your sleuthing. Keep up the good work.

Of course I was joking. Or at least that’s what I’m saying. But… there really could be contract negotiation plays where a red herring would be worth its cost 1000X. But I’m not gonna go into detail with examples, ‘cause that would undermine the objective that I’ll deny I was paid to advance ;)
