The game is young, but we are not as good as we think we are.

Our offense...particularly shot selection, is the worst I've seen in 38 years of watching Purdue basketball.

Are you that dense? YOU said "We clean up our turnovers and we win going away."

IF you had used proper grammar, your sentence would have started with the word "if".

I didn't imply anything. I said we would clean up our turnovers and win going away. We did. Sorry you can't understand english.

I agree about shot selection and offense outside of post not being where it needs to be. Disagree worst in 38 years. Come on those Keady teams at end of his tenure and Painter's teams 12-13 were pretty bad teams. The guard play is what it is on offense. The shot selection THAT can be improved. Their just is not great offensive talent at the guard position. Edwards has talent. He is the one wing player that can be really good offensively.

I don't think alot of people think this Purdue team is better then it is... I think people see IF Purdue could straighten the offensive problems outside the post. The team could be really really good. You can improve shot selection, setting screens to get players open for good shots and hitting a high % of those shots.

Exactly this. We took a few quick 3s that we shouldn't have (Biggie twice and Vince once). We clean up our turnovers and we win going away.
Agreed. We have one loss for one reason only, turnovers. Cut those in half and we probably are undefeated right now.

We don't need to score a ton for points to win games. And ultimately if we win by 1 or 100 the results are exactly the same. A win is a win and this team has a high ceiling.

You obviously weren't watching two and three years ago then.

Maybe Abu meant "some of the worst," but yes apparently "forgetting" (or may have blocked it out.....which in that case I applaud Abu) the '12-'13 and '13-'14 seasons would be a good New Year's resolution perhaps.

I wish there was a way to fast forward Cline's development. He is one of the better passers and has some handles. KS shoots and that's about it. Lazy passes, no dribble drive, can only get open off of a screen.

How good do you think we think we are?

I think we are every bit as good as we think we are, but I may not think we think we are as good as you think we think we are.
There are things we know. There are things we don’t know. There are things we know we don’t know. However, the one that may be a big surprise is when the things we don’t know that we don’t know become a reality. I wish this was all my words… ;)

Hey Mandeville - I think you are underestimating KS. I agree it would be nice if he could create off the dribble, but besides shooting he is very good at getting passes to the interior, and he has looked very good at times playing defense with his long arms - getting blocks and steals. If he can get a little more consistent with his shooting he will be a key piece to our future success.

That is generally the most dangerous.....and the largest universe

Unfortunately, his first "shot" (not ruled an attempt) went down nicely but was waived off because of an illegal screen called on Isaac Haas. He made a nice steal and got the give on the resulting break for a lay-up. Only ended up playing 10 minutes, however. I think that was more due to match-ups than KS' play IMO.

I wasn't sure how to exactly weave that in? :)

My feeling is that the team play isn't as good as it was 3-4 weeks ago. There seems to be more catch-and-shoot going on now. Earlier in the season, everyone was talking about how well the team shares the ball, passing up a good shot for a better shot. Now we are seeing a lot of quick, bad shots from almost everyone. Very little inside-out play. It affects everything. Scoring balance suffers. Rebounding isn't as good because no one is in position due to quick shots.

I don't think this team has fully developed its identity yet. We still have alot of people taking the wrong shots. I would like to see more VE and RD, taking it to the basket, rather than shooting jumpers. I also would like to see our bigs making more passes to shooters cutting to the basket, like AJ and PJ did on one play. It also seemed like CMP is starting to shorten the rotation. JH, KS RC and IH all seemed to have a lesser role tonight.
