Has anyone listened to this episode of Malcom Gladwell's podcast "Revisionist History"? It's somewhat old, but I just heard it and found it fascinating. The question that the podcast addresses is "why do smart/successful people make irrational decisions?"

He uses Wilt Chamberlain as a prime example. Chamberlain's FT% was awful, and this hurt him bad because basically the only way to stop him was to foul him. He switched to underhand FTs for one season and miraculously became a good FT shooter. In his 100 point game he shot 28 for 32! But then, inexplicably, his switched back to shooting overhead, and his FTs sucked again.

I'm curious how low everyone thinks Painter and Co's threshold is relative to other division 1 coaches. I would say he's slightly better than average. My evidence is his hiring of Andrew McClatchey and early adoption of the GSW "more passes = more points" idea.
