We will offer, he has talent, has a burst, very good shot, athletic. His needs are ball handling and to get stronger. Shot well from three. His team lost to Central Catholic and Lafayette's best player Carson Barrett.
He scored 44pts 7 of 21 from 3pt range
He shoots too much.
Only seen one game and Highlights "he's not that type of player"He shoots too much.

I'm surprised all the responses have been tepid.
I thought this guy was an awesome young talent.
Problem is the rest of the team can't score that well. And he probably is. I was looking at the stat line and saw the 7-21 from 3 point. Well he actually had more shots in closer to get the additional 23 points, and that includes free throws. To be honest, the 44 points is impressive and those type players are usually the only ones on their team with that much capability. So they end up with more shots because that puts the team in best position to win. Now if he had 30 points and 15 assists, that would be even more impressive and I would look hard at an offer to him.
7 for 21 from 3-pt range scores the same as 50% from 2-pt range. Not sure why people think it's bad. Are we spoiled by Purdue's current shooters?I only looked at his shooting stats, but they were awful. Great athlete, so I hope he can improve and still think we should offer.
That's one game. I searched for his stats on the season (may have been last season) and they were worse than that. 28% from 3 and 60%FT shooter, if I recall correctly.7 for 21 from 3-pt range scores the same as 50% from 2-pt range. He is an exceptional athlete and young. He has time to improve his skill set and all that can happen outside the Gish's practice time with the team. It is up to him to put in the work as desired to reach where he wants to get. He has the God given ability with his athleticism...now it is about extra work, desire, discipline and determination. If those are his numbers, Purdue should probably hold the offer for now and see if he improves efficiency as he matures. It sounds to me like he is a superior athlete playing against less talented competition at smaller schools and has inflated numbers as a result.
Also, if they get Tyger Campbell and Isaiah Thompson in back to back classes they might not have room for another smaller guard on the roster.
What AAU team does he play for and how is he doing with them?We will offer, he has talent, has a burst, very good shot, athletic. His needs are ball handling and to get stronger. Shot well from three. His team lost to Central Catholic and Lafayette's best player Carson Barrett.

I ask because he's playing on an average high school team against average competition. His numbers aren't great given the competition he's playing against. Just was curious how he was doing on the AAU circuit.he was playing for Indiana Elite AAU team. I'm not sure if that's a great team or not.

If he's getting time with Elite, then he's good. Not attempting to say how good, but you don't get invited to that team without being good.he was playing for Indiana Elite AAU team. I'm not sure if that's a great team or not.
Believe he switched sometime over the summer to Mean Streets out of Chicago. If he's getting time with Elite, then he's good. Not attempting to say how good, but you don't get invited to that team without being good.
I am clueless ...Believe he switched sometime over the summer to Mean Streets out of Chicago.
Don’t be hard on yourself - I randomly figured it out. Noticed the pictures from Elite’s tourney win didn’t include him. Checked his mom’s twitter and she had something from MeanStreetsI am clueless ...

So did Kyle Macy. I get your concern though. He shoots too much.
not sure that a comparison to Carsen is accurate...not sure what that comparison could be? None of that is to suggest that he cannot play or Purdue should not follow him because I think they should watch him closely...just don't see the Carsen comparison nor need a comparison to be a good player
Kyle Macy and Matt Waddell were two players that were substantially faster on the court than what you saw on TV. Both had really good first steps...and both could shoot it. Kyle left Purdue because he didn't think there were enough basketballs to go around...So did Kyle Macy. I get your concern though.
I get what your saying but my point was that Kyle Macy shot a lot in high school but he ended up being a good college player who didn't always shoot a lot then. I think he averaged like 44 points a game his senior high school year. Just because a player seems to shoot " too much" in high school doesn't always mean the same in college. As a Sophomore I haven't seen better, who are they?Lafayette's best player?? Haha. How stupid....
I think McCutcheon has a sophomore that is pretty good alongside Phinisee. I know Harrison is struggling this year a bit...largely due to the injury bug hitting their two big men, both of which are playing D1 sports next season outside of basketball. Barrett is a kid who is a good player but most coaches in the area agree he would be a big stretch for any D1 program and likely would be best fit to play D2. However, a lot of these kids get stars in their eyes when a D1 program offers when they would likely fit better at a smaller school. As a Sophomore I haven't seen better, who are they?
When my son was being recruited, I asked three different DII programs why they weren't talking with him and they all said almost word for word ... Once a DI offer is made, we never stand a chance. Too bad, it would be better for many kids, but we were all that age once.I think McCutcheon has a sophomore that is pretty good alongside Phinisee. That's what is so amazing about North Dakota State in FCS football. They go in the homes of a lot of kids who have received D1 offers at programs like the MAC and MWC and sell them on being able to compete for championships and what they can offer is better and on par with some P5 programs...and honestly, they back that up. I ended up in a conversation with an older gentleman in Indy about 2 years ago who's son played at North Dakota State and said when taking official/unofficial visits to D1 programs AND THEN going to NDSU, they were blown away with what more NDSU could offer in the realm of facilities and other amenities that some of the lower D1 programs like Ball State, NIU, Western Michigan (those that had extended offers to him) could. That was then backed up after talking to some Iowa fans during the game last season against Iowa who said more that NDSU could out-lift Iowa and looked bigger than some of the B1G teams that visited. When my son was being recruited, I asked three different DII programs why they weren't talking with him and they all said almost word for word ... Well, that was DEFINITELY not true for the ones I visited. One was a final four contender the year before and had a bus that had more black soot on it than should be safe and they wore warmups that were at least 6 years old. Basketball is a very non-revenue sport at DII ... Why every DII school goes DI as soon as they possibly canThat's what is so amazing about North Dakota State in FCS football. This is insane for an FCS school...and probably why their basketball program has seen a pretty good rise over the last few years as well.Well, that was DEFINITELY not true for the ones I visited. By the way, interesting aside, my son had to stop getting frequent flyer miles for his flights with his team ... against NCAA rules. The school couldn't get them either .... an illegal benefit that other students couldn't get.
