Spain Box Score

Busting your chops.

But still impressed/surprised with elway as front office guy,
Having 10 starters from free agency (and most of them replaced free agents from the run two years prior. Only 19 guys have remained from then).
I think that we can agree that there are different ways to build teams and it is not hard to think of examples to show that bringing in veterans often works, but often doesn't.

I do think that it can hurt teams when players are upset about playing time. I think that Spike was a logical addition, but I don't assume that bringing in more Jucos or transfers would make Purdue better this coming season. Ten players is enough, if they are the right ten, although it does leave less buffer for injuries, suspensions, and players leaving the team. Like Painter, I am "defiantly" optimistic about the ten players that Purdue has. They give Painter quite a bit of flexibility.

Ya agree.
Plus with just ten used, it will be a great opportunity to give scholarships to eifert and mckeeman for this year

That's probably the best free agency record.

There's not a ton of depth at the 4 or 5 after Haas and Swanigan. There's Taylor, who's still unproven and that's it. VE and Smotherman aren't natural 4's.

VE and Smotherman aren't natural 4's and that's a good thing.

Your description of a "natural" 4 is synonymous with saying "typical" and "old-school" 4.

Smotherman and VE are solid stretch 4's. That is the position they should each be playing.

Especially Basil. He's like Jabari Parker was for the Bucks...out of place at the 3 (can't shoot consistently enough from deep), and when they moved him to the 4, he was sooooo much better.
