So would Princeton be the 3rd or 4th best team in the ACC?

More proof of the Mighty ACC! ND survives 3 at buzzer to Beat Princeton by 1 point.

Meanwhile, Oakland is easily the 5th best team in the ACC!

What are you talking about? Are you trying to down-play the ACC? It's the best basketball conference this year and that really isn't debatable. ND played poor today. This is March -- surely you haven't forgotten about Little Rock.

Anything can happen in March.

Ya, I was just going to say, you can't read too much into one game, especially a 5/12 NCAA tournament game. BTW: if memory serves, Purdue started it's 2000 Elite 8 run with a one-point win over Dayton in a 6/11 game.

Crazy stuff will go down this weekend. Let's just hope Purdue comes through it alive.

Not debatable?

Go drink some more kool-aid

I mean, it is....I have no problem admitting it. I'm not drinking kool-aid. Doesn't mean an ACC team will win the championship as it's a tournament of match-ups. Still overall the best conference right now.

Princeton should have beat ND.
Clemson loses at home to Oakland with Oakland's best player out hurt.
UVa in fight for their life right now with 3rd-tier directional school.

Sure B1G teams lay eggs, but that's because the B1G sucks! I know that from watching ESPN.

But this isn't supposed to happen to the Mighty ACC -- greatest darn conference in the land! I know, cuse ESPN tells me so, all day, every day.

Yup! Then went on to beat Oklahoma and Gonzaga. Lost to Wisconsin. It surprises me how much people still act shocked during March.

I thought for sure the smart kids were going to beat the smart asses. It would have been a dagger in my bracket though.

No. Save the "should have" comment BS. Should have means nothing in sports -- it's W or L. ND led nearly the entire game, while playing extremely poor. If you actually think Princeton is the better team, you need a reality check. ND playing their typical game wins that match-up easily every time. Just stop.

It's very debatable

What are you, the ACC's designated a$$ kisser on this board. BS on "should have." The 2nd-place ACC regular-season team is flat lucky to get by a team of non-scholarship Ivy League eggheads and you're tellin' me that says nothing about the overrated ACC, cuse "anything can happen." BS! If "anything can happen," then how is it the ACC is so much better than all the other conferences?! If they're that good, they should kick a$$, period -- not survive a wide open last second miss from Princeton! Or lose at home to Oakland!

And mind you, I'm not saying the B1G is better than the ACC, or that Purdue can't lose tonight.

I'm just saying the ACC is no better than the other major conferences.

The Ivy League non-scholarship thing isn't completely true. Technically, they don't give athletic scholarships, but that doesn't mean the basketball players are paying their own way. There was one from around here not to long back that went to one of the Ivy Leagues and he said he was worried about paying for it, he said they told him not to worry about it. I'm not sure if it's more private scholarships or how they technically do it, never looked that hard, but they basically do full rides just like every other D1 school.

Pretty hard to argue that the ACC is not the most top heavy league. I would guess they will have more S16 and elite 8 finalists than any other conference. B12 and Pac12 could be close behind then Big East and SEC. Not sure of a better way to measure "who's better" but based on seeding, ACC sure looks good.

I'm not an ass kisser. I just call it like it is.

Dude, sometimes good teams have bad games. Sometimes games are closer than they should be...this isn't rocket science - it's March. You're argument is absolutely terrible. Taking two close games and diminishing an entire season of work. It's asinine. Let's not down-play arguably Purdue's best win of the season, which was Notre Dame.

ACC sucks. Tom Crean could coach any of those teams to a winning record.

Sorry the ACC sucking makes you so, oh what is the term kessel has used, ah yes: butthurt.

You're basing this off of two 5 seeds and an NIT team? And the two 5 seeds won, unlike us as a 5 last year?

Brilliant.

No, the way it works is, sometimes ACC teams have "bad" games, which the "experts" immediately explain as flukes, and exceptions to the rule, but when B1G teams have bad games, it means they suck! This is the accepted narrative.

E.g., Minnesota is playing badly right now -- and narrative will be (if they lose) that Minnesota, and thus the B!G, suck!

Princeton played well -- probably because ND isn't really that good (after all, Purdue beat 'em, so how good can they be?!) -- and the narrative is ND just had an off game and the ACC is still King!

That's how it works.

Sorry if I offend the sensibilities of the ACC fans on here with my selective use of data -- as if data hasn't been used selectively all year to reinforce positive/negative narratives about the ACC/BIG, respectively.

I'm not sure how many ACC fans are on here, but when you spout off stupid crap about the ACC not being very good, you're going to get called out on it. So far, the B1G has been about what most expected. Their top team won, 2nd and 3rd best teams were upset and good for NW, they won a toss up game and I really hope beat a vulnerable Gonzaga team. Nice that there were only 2 upsets on the opening day, at least so far, and B1G was on the losing end of both.

Speaking of "stupid," do you know how to read? I never said the ACC wasn't any good. What I said was, the ACC isn't clearly better than the other major conferences, despite the fact that some here accept ESPN's ACC worship without thought.

I'll leave it to you to tell us how great ND is and how their squeaker over Princeton only means the ACC is even GREATER than ESPN has been telling us, all year.

They are clearly better because they are clearly better because everybody knows they are clearly better...especially lazy ass talking heads who are experts. The ACC may be slightly better....slightly. On the other hand a bottom feeder Big Ten School beat their champion...but you know that was an off night...Yada Yada yada.

Sorry, but I'm bumping this back up to give the ACC lovers, here, a chance to remind us that yesterday's 0-3 effort, losing by a combined 63 points, was a fluke -- and means nothing -- because the MIghty ACC is the best darn conference in the land, period, end of story! And the B1G sucks!

We know, cuse ESPN tells us so!
