i wrote yesterday "so long top 25". However, they may be able to cling as some teams below them lost this week as well. No way AZ can still be ranked and not Purdue.

If Zona hadn’t been in a free fall all week, then the quality of this win would have been much greater. But as Boilerinlouisville says...beat the Cards and then it might be a yes.

I believe Purdue will drop out of the top 20. There were a bunch of upsets this week. on the other hand, there are some teams still undefeated who were not previously ranked who will receive some votes.

Purdue needs a victory over Louisville rather than a quality loss..

No idea. If I had a vote I'm not sure what I would do.

Mainly because I have no idea just how good Arizona is. They looked soft/really now up for it.

I’d say Purdue might actually hang around the same spot. UT is better than previously thought and may run a string of games together in the SEC as the fourth team behind Florida, Bama, Kentucky, and Vandy/Missouri. They’ll have chances and are likely an at large bid team around the 9-12 range.

I'm with you JDB. I think it is too early in the season to make radical changes in the original top 20. Yes, some teams will shift up or down, but most of the top 20 population will stay in the mix. That includes Purdue.

This is a tough one. Purdue lost twice but also destroyed the #2 ranked team. Several other teams ranked around us lost this week as well including Xavier (#15), Seton Hall (#20), St Mary’s (#21), and UCLA (#23). And there are still more games today and tomorrow. Should be interesting to see what the voters do.

If we beat the Cards- which I believe we will- it will be too late to save that 40+week streak of being in Top 25. That being said, not sure will absolutely will fall that far. Yes, this win is tarnished by Arizona's performance the entire tournament but we didn't just beat them....We demolished them....And no one else in this tournament had that kind of win over any of their opponents. Time will tell come Monday.

I think that’s the key that it wasn’t just that Purdue beat Arizona, it was the way that they did it. Also, If Purdue makes two more shots against UT they are likely playing Villanova the second night and may have ended up with a victory there with better focus and prep.

That Arizona team is filled with a ton of talent and Purdue broke them down and showed that Purdue has the ability to play against superiority athletic teams this season.

If Purdue is out Zona has to be right?
No. Each team will drop whatever number of spots the voters choose, but the majority of voters don't think that way (logically), they think how well or poorly did this team play and how many spots should they go up or down. So, AZ started 16 spots higher, they won't drop below us.

NO. You don't lose to WKU and expect to get any respect.
With the player(s) they have coming back soon, I think they'll have some respect in March. It won't be remembered who played or didn't when they played PU, just that they have been good since Christmas ..... maybe not, but I see them being respected.

I wouldn’t put very much weight into the WKU game. Often times these early season tournaments can be crazy. IU laid an egg in Maui when Yogi was a Sr. They went 1-2 for a low finish also. That team won the BIG by 2 games if memory serves.

We destroyed the "#2" team on paper... we all know they are maybe 25th at best after the next poll. We lost to 2 crappy teams and beat a mediocre (at this point at least) team so I think we will be right around that 25 mark. Good news is AZ could bounce back and finish the year as a top 10 team, and then this win looks good down the road. Bad news is I don't think the TN or WKU losses will ever look like "good" or reasonable losses. We were outcoached badly.

Disagree on Tennessee, I think they will be a tourney team. Wk is a terrible loss, no matter how you spin it with Arizona. Wken the selection committee looks at the Purdue resume #2 will still be by Arizona's name

It's not like the committee is full of people who don't watch college basketball. They will definitely know that Zona wasn't really the "#2" team in the nation when we played them. These guys (and girls) are very educated on everything that happens within college basketball.

Tennessee looked pretty solid to me. I’d expect them to make the tourney. Arizona will be ok especially after Rawle Alkins starts playing again. I expect the Arizona win to be a solid resume builder to throw on the pile come tourney time.
