So, Colts folks, just who had “Unwarranted Arrogance?”

Ryan Grigson (Purdue) -- 49-31-0 .613 as Colts GM
(11-5 three times; two division champions; no losing seasons in five years)
(Drafted Andrew Luck as franchise quarterback)

Chris Ballard (Wisconsin) -- 58-65-1 .472 (includes 4-5 in 2024) as Colts GM
(11-5 once; no titles; three losing seasons and counting in eight years; 4-12 twice)
(Drafted Anthony Richardson as franchise quarterback)

Now, who deserved firing while showing “unwarranted arrogance?” Certainly not our oft-decorated Boiler captain, the one who opened holes for the A-Train after a life-threatening injury, made it to the NFL and CFL, scouted for the Super Bowl champion Rams, directed personnel for the Super Bowl Eagles, was named the NFL’s top exec for his rebuild of the Colts after inheriting a 2-14 team and never had a losing season. Rather, the one who most ripped him, the dumb domer dinker turned media mega mouth Patty McAfee, has proven full of it. And that, too.

The latest tally – Grigson’s Vikings 21, Ballard’s Colts 13, McAfee’s Mouth 0.

Boiler Up, domer down.

Uh McAfee went to West Virginia, not ND.

I’m in agreement with you that Ballard needs to go, but Grigson was AWFUL at drafting and signing OL, and that was his downfall.

Isn't it funny how that works out? The Bears have a GM who also played OL but doesn't have the first clue how to put one together. And it's going to erase all the good he did and cost him his job.

But he's not the lead guy. I think that's the key, he's good at what he does, but wasn't good at being the top guy leading a franchise. No shame in that, most are not cut out to be the top dog in an organization.
Who is their top personnel guy now? I know it was Spielman for a long time but I admittedly don’t follow the Vikings closely.

I think Grigson thought with his OL background that he would identify mid round OLs that would be serviceable. He didn’t.

No clue, but he's not the GM and that is your top guy and who has final say on everything.

And the Vikings GM puts an emphasis on signing NFL veterans and not the draft. So definitely a different approach at the top.

If I remember correctly, that in a nut shell was his entire problem. He always thought he was the smartest guy in the room, and rubbed people wrong a lot since he didn't have the track record to back it up.

Bill Polian had a bit of that rep, but he had the track record to back it up at least so people were more willing to accept it.
