...or can we just be honest and hope the Pirates slit their throats and hang them high?
I respect that... Just far to much belittling from IU assholes for me...I'm of an opposite mind here. I hope IU pulls this one out.
First, I cheer for the BIG over all other conferences. A defeat by IU diminishes all of us.
Second, I hope for mediocracly for Archie. Not abject failure. Not unbounded success. Just mediocracly. Good against outside teams, and good against other BIG teams too. Just not good against Purdue. The debates on IU forums will be entertaining as hell.
In all seriousness, I am cheering IU on tonight. I know that might turn some of your stomachs, but that's the way i go.

The next time I root for IU in ANYTHING will be the first. I rooted for ND against IU in football for Pete’s sake....or can we just be honest and hope the Pirates slit their throats and hang them high?
The B10 is good enough this year, that IU losing every game isn't going to hurt. PU, MSU, Michigan, Northwestern, Wisky, Maryland, Minny, a reinvigorated OSU, and even Nebraska, PSU, and maybe Illinois will do well enough to shelter the league from a defunct IU program. I personally hope IU loses every game but with their Sisters of the Poor schedule, they's win a couple.....and I atually liked Sean's baby brother at Dayton.I'm of an opposite mind here. I hope IU pulls this one out.

Are u rooting for Rutgers tonight? Do you even know if Rutgers is playing tonight? I don’t....the bottom 4 of a conference mean nothing for SOS or national perception....is IU being in the bottom 4 of the Big different than Rutgers being in the bottom 4? It shouldn’t be...regardless, I don’t want Archie getting any traction whatsoever...glad they burned. With that said...enjoy ur posts math.I'm of an opposite mind here. I hope IU pulls this one out.

I disagree. I think had IU beat a ranked Seton Hall team that perception of B1G would clearly be enhanced. That's been part of the ACC allure to the media and public over the years..." blah, blah, blah. And even the team in that always difficult ACC are oh so dangerous. Blah, blah..."....the bottom 4 of a conference mean nothing for SOS or national perception....
Concur...if they beat them today, it would have mattered. But at the end of the year, every conference has bad teams...and I believe that IU will fall in the bottom 4 this year in the Big, so by the law of averages, over time I don’t believe it would make much difference....but point taken.I disagree. So is every team in the Big gonna end up in the top 100? Someone is going to drag u down...why not hope it is IU? At least we only play them once...Rutgers winning will raise ever single teams RPI, BPI, Kenpom, etc. It is absolutely important. The Rutgers being a top 75 to 100 team compared to a top 200 team is very important.
I can't decide, but I will find a silver lining either way....or can we just be honest and hope the Pirates slit their throats and hang them high?
The only football game I can recall between those two was in 1991.Is that the one you mean? The next time I root for IU in ANYTHING will be the first. I rooted for ND against IU in football for Pete’s sake.
Yup, that’s the one!The only football game I can recall between those two was in 1991.Is that the one you mean?
I should root for Rutgers... well anyway, I was pulling for Maryland and Northwestern. Maryland looked like a talented, hot shooting team tonight. Impressive. Northwestern played well, but I was not impressed. They are very thin. If you can turn off their top scorer, you can limit their scoring drastically. Rutgers... They are part of the BIG, right? They were playing? ... sure, yes, I'm rooting for 'em!Are u rooting for Rutgers tonight? Do you even know if Rutgers is playing tonight?
