Shame..

These RBs are so good and the rest of the team is so trash.
Why not give the guy who went 89 yards to the house against Indiana State a few carries? I think it was Elijah Jackson. He showed real speed and might make the offense a little more dynamic. Maybe a wheel route to him or put him in the slot?

You think Card could get it to him? Card has hard enough time throwing to big 6'3" guys.

IMO, NIL dollars are driving who is getting the playing time. Card is getting a large sum and he is playing. If any other QB replaces Card, that makes CRW's player assessment look bad and the NIL money spent on him look wasted....

Putting a 36 year old guy who’s not an offensive mind and never been a HC, in charge of roster construction for a B1G football program is lunacy.

Losing consecutive games by an average of about 40 points also makes a coach look bad. If Davila or Browne were saviors, they'd be behind the QB now.

I don’t know that one bad hire is a fireable offense, but this one was REALLY bad.

He turns 67 in a month, not sure you want him hiring a new coach anyway…
Feel like the AD as a whole has gotten much better under his watch. I’d agree that one bad hire isnt a fireable offense.

That said, how Walters didn’t put the panel to sleep in the interview is beyond me. Guy has 0 energy and that can be infectious. Couple that with the fact I’ve never seen him give an intelligent ( or maybe even intelligible) answer at a presser…it’s easy to see how and why we are doomed with him.

If we do not improve or at least win 4 you have to let him go. Sucks to suck…but this clearly isnt working out and it’s a really really good time to throw some money at the problem with all that the conference deal is bringing in!

Go back and look at the comments when Walters was hired. Many pointed out this was a very low chance of success hire. How could an experienced AD not see this? You can't take such a chance. Purdue especially can't let Bobinski make a second such blunder.

From things coming out behind the scenes Mbob trying to distance himself from the hire and push it on Grimes.

Checks out on the surface from me. She seems like somebody who could buy into the “hype” and bluster over actual accomplishments

I don't follow other B1G programs closely. Has there ever been a HC hire, who had no previous HCing experience, which was considered a success in the B1G? Maybe there are no that many cases of such hires?

Probably not. Look…I don’t hate the thought of what we tried to do. With how late we were with Brohm leaving we were 2 weeks behind when most searches started.

Rumor is the offer for “better” candidates was $6mil and we gave Walters 4 because of the lack of experience. He blew them away in the interview and they feel like they had to offer him the job.

All of that said, if we started a search now I think we could pay a guy 6-10mil and make it attractive to come here.

Ever been ? I think the first two that came to mind (and I don't know why) Ryan Day - Ohio State (although plenty of asst jobs and NFL experience).....and going back a little - High School head coach experience but no college (and again plenty of asst coach experience) - Barry Alvarez - Wisconsin.

Those are different programs, different scenarios.....and not really apples to apples.

Purdue is in a tough spot right now, and as others have posted, it's a really bad time to be bad. Still support the program, the University, and Coach Walters - he has his work cut out for him, but he also has the opportunity to turn it around, and Purdue has traditionally given coaches more time than most other schools. The landscape has changed a lot just in the last 5 years - it can be turned around, however - either with this coaching staff (and a few changes) or another, but time is a luxury most do not have and the clock is ticking faster than ever.

Next week will be another interesting test.....

Can you imagine the conversation between CRW and Harell if CRW was to fire him....?
The defense sucks as bad as the as the offense.
