Is it a good thing or a bad thing for this squad to play this tough of a schedule?

Personally, I think it’s a good thing and taking our lumps early is good for team chemistry and for the new guys to learn from the older guys.

We won’t be seeing a top seed in the tourney but this team will be experienced once March rolls around. Get the right draw and who knows how far these guys can go.

It's good. This is a year where you just want to make the dance and hope you get hot and the cards fall your way. Playing with house money.

The tough schedule will also hopefully help the team hit their stride during the meat of the B1G schedule.

Good thing! Teams play/grow to the level of the competition……assuming they have cognitive and physical ability to do so, these Boilers have both

While DJ was a frosh and slim, he would have been a difference maker on 1 or 2 of losses

maybe all????

It’s good. You know where you stand among good teams and learn from the mistakes. The selection committee gives you credit for the tough schedule.

We have a young team. The only way for them to learn and get better is to play better competition.

This tough schedule will help them as the year goes on, and it will also help them for next year.

Good. As much as I hate to compare, this is sorta what Whizzo has done in the past that ended up with some deepish runs come March. Not saying I expect that this season, we aren't going to learn what needs changing if we beat up on cup cakes all the time.

While the losses suck, we'll learn more from them and I expect we'll have ups and downs like this all season long with this pretty young team.

Not sure. I said 11 losses earlier due to scheduling, and realized I was wrong after the AL game.

But with likely 4 losses after the Auburn game....losing 6 more isn't out of the question especially with 9 road games in the B10. So our schedule might put us as high as 10 losses. But prob 8 or 9 going into tourney. Of course CMP could get them on a hot streak in Jan....we hope and reduce the losses.

I can see us with 8-10 losses

It’s all good - we’ve seen the pressure applied by Marquette, Penn State and A&M. We’ve seen Brandon doubled at the top of the key. We aren’t going to see something come tourney time that we haven’t already seen. I really think it’s gonna come down to Heide, Colvin and Cox. If those 3 continue to improve over the next 3 months we will be tough and tested.

BTW just looked and only 3 teams in conference started 2-0 - kind of crazy. League is up for grabs and I’m confident we will be in the mix until the last week!

I'm all for the schedule assuming it doesn't hit our team's confidence and morale. We looked a little down and low energy last game imo. I'm hoping it was just my eyes, though, and not a "here we go again" moment. If we win our next one, I think that erases all of this, though, and shows we belong.

Part of it maybe was the physical play that enhanced the D, that made life for Purdue difficult.

Good - if we learn lessons and pivot our strategy the next time we see something similar.

Bad - if we don't learn. All of our loses are focused on being more physical than us and stopping our motion from starting. We haven't exactly learned yet.

Things we need to see going into Auburn and conference schedule > someone else besides Braden has to attack. We have to pick up our tempo and be aggressive. Bench - we have to get production from them.....

Turnovers is killing this team. Smith and TKR especially. We need more of Cox and for Heide and Colvin to be more mature and aggressive to take the pressure off of the big 3.

Agreed. Saw our tempo is actually SLOWER than last year. Now there can be some factors to that but I would still think we would be a faster tempo team, but surprised me when I saw we weren’t.
