It's a very narrow read of the PEC and begs one to ask how is an election judge who is charged with ensuring the integrity of the vote and prevent fraud supposed to do that if they are prohibited from reviewing signatures. The same way the 3 election judges at my Chicago polling station (of all places) do when I request my ballot.

Why is the left against ID and for ballot harvesting if you say they want fair elections?

There are plenty of "blue" states that have voter ID and it works fine. Not all "red" states have photo ID, and again no problems. Voter ID has only been around since about 2008 (IN actually wrote he first law), and considering we had 250+ yrs of elections without it, it basically falls into the category of a solution in search of a problem...

The problem is as the GOP slips more and more into minority party status, they have to emphasize their voter turnout and hope to minimize the opposition. Now you'll likely take issue with this. but exactly why do states like TX,GA, AZ etc... want to "tighten" identification restrictions? All states have Dems and Pubs and people of various ethnicities and races. So exactly why do GOP Legislators in certain states feel the need to protect "voter integrity" but insist on doing it in a way that (unintentionally or not) tends to disenfranchise people who are likely to vote against them...

Let's look at a state like CO, for example. They require photo ID, and they also basically vote exclusively by mail. They are also either # 1 or 2 in terms of total voter participation, relative to the number of eligible voters. (MN is the other state in the Top 2.) Now it tends to be a "blue" state, but they also elected Boebert, so plenty of right leaning people live there as well...

Now nobody in CO complains because they require photo id. The list of acceptable ids seems pretty straight forward...

So if this is acceptable to both Dems and Pubs in CO, then the question becomes what do GOP Legislators in GA,or TX insist on doing differently and why? If both Dems and Pubs in CO are fine with the list of acceptable IDs in CO, then why do GOP Legislators in more contested battleground states who basically rule via gerrymander in the first place feel the need to restrict the types of ID THEY find acceptable. It's not the idea of photo ID that Dems in those states find objectionable, but rather the specific restrictions that Legislators in those states feel the need to apply.

GA just had the most successful election in their history in terms of the % of the population that participated, and the GOP's response to more participation was to find reasons to limit "certain people" from voting? It might be one thing if the Legislators in these states were actually elected in a statewide referendum type vote, but that's not what happens.

The majority of votes cast for statewide office (POTUS, Senators) in GA all went to Democrats, but strangely enough it was only members of the minority party (in terms of vote cast) who decided "integrity" was an issue and the majority had to be limited by the minority. So exactly how were the interests of the people who constituted the MAJORITY of votes cast in 2020, represented by the actions of the GA Legislature?

So why does the GA (or TX) GOP Legislatures find the same type of voter ID used in CO unacceptable in their state? The cynical answer is unfortunately the honest one as well. CO is one of the two most electorally involved states in the nation, and both parties manage to co-exist.

But GA just came off one of their most successful elections in terms of voter participation in history, and the GOP lost. They know that despite the reputed American democratic ideal of 1 person/1 vote, that as a minority party the more people voting the more difficult and untenable their position becomes .So their only option is to limit the vote, and this type of legislation provides them the legal means to do so...
