How many on here would be happy to "just be in a Final Four", even if the Boilers were blown out?

Personally, just making it isn't enough for me as that is worse than not being in it. I know, Purdue hasn't won the big one yet, and getting there would be a great thing for the program and something I'd like to see, but as one who for years was an IU guy, I hated it when they would get there and not win it all.

So would you be happy just making it, or do you think you'd suffer not winning it all?

Happy initially. But short lived.

I lived in western NY in the late 80s and early 90s. The fact that the Bills made it to 4 Super Bowls in a row (a hell of an accomplishment), but never won any grates me until this day. And while I truly enjoyed the Rose Bowl experience in 2001, again it no longer seems relevant. But, if the Bills had won one of those or the Boilers had won the Rose Bowl, that's something I could have relished for years.

That's why I don't put much stock in how many FFs a team goes to, or how far they get in the tourney. No one remembers team X made it to the FF or Elite 8. History only remembers who won the whole thing.

Ecstatic. Some reasons:

--Trying to hide tears rolling down my 11-year-old cheeks after watching Memphis State dismantle the 1984 Big Ten champions ON MEMPHIS STATE'S HOME FLOOR.
--Watching as Purdue was sent to Baton Rouge to play LSU in 1986 ON THEIR HOME FLOOR.
--Sitting in the Pontiac Silverdome watching arguably the best team in the country being upset by our head coach's alma mater as Mitch Richmond BANKED A 3. Riding back home with my Purdue grad parents in complete silence.
--Panama Myers
--Glenn Robinson injuring his back in 1994
--Those effers from Memphis State again in 1995
--Being fouled all over the place by the Stanford Cardinal in 1998
--Needing only to beat Wisconsin -- WISCONSIN! -- to play in a Final Four in Indy.

Just to name a few.

Is this a serious question?

I was on campus in 2000 when there was literally a riot in the streets over an Elite 8 game.

I think a better question would be how many appendages would the average Purdue fan trade for a trip to the Final 4.

I remember that Silverdome deal...my late wife was a huge Boiler fan....along with her Cubbies. I'd always, though an IU fan at the time, told her that if PU ever got there, I'd buy two tickets so that she could take her mom with her to see the games. I still remember her call after it and how truly pissed off she was.

Aiming high in anything should be the highest order. Understanding that #1 is seldom reached so one should never be satisfied but, content you gave your all. So, I would be content being in a FF but, not satisfied.

I would be happy we got there and even more ecstatic if after the game Biggie announced he was coming back next year to finish the job and win it all.

How well we play will determine how happy I am with our performance.

While only naming a few apparently...you certainly hit the highlights, especially with respect to the ones that I remember in much the same way and for the same reasons.

I would add to the list that, at least in my own case, I have only vague memories of their last appearance in a Final Four.

I would add as well the chance to share in the accomplishment with family and friends, as I can recall the excitement of that '80 appearance and sharing in that with my Dad when I was young, and I know how incredible it was to share the experience of the Cubs playing in a World Series with my family...and more so in watching them win and then being at the parade/rally as a family. I cherish what happened, but cherish more sharing in the experience with my family and friends, and I would feel the same if Purdue somehow did manage to make a Final Four.

I was more than content that I got to see the Cubs in a World Series after literally have waited my entire life for it to happen...and I would feel the exact same way about Purdue making a Final Four appearance as it would only be the second time in my life that it happened if it were to happen, and as I had said, I only have vague memories of the last appearance so it would almost be like it happening for the first time.

Ecstatic. The tournament isnt held at Mackey. therefore I know a FF is nearly impossible under Painter

Kinda of a stupid question...
Is like asking if you boys like to have sex with a hot super model, but it probably won't last very long because she is so hot or not having the opportunity to do so at all.
D@mn straight. Sign me up please even if it is only for a few minutes.
