Some key considerations:

There is an early signing period this year, Dec 20 thru 22. Gotta think most of the HS kids will sign then. Doesn't look like any possible Purdue bowls will conflict with that time. FYI, next year the early signing period is waaaaay BEFORE the season, in April.

Will we get some flippers due to our strong finish?

Will Brohm go after jucos and grad transfers again to fill foremost needs?

Unless we had some attrition or some verbals to decommit, we really won't have much room for flippers or jucos. I think we currently have 2 to 3 spots available, and I know we are hoping Moore will flip from his Texas verbal. I am not sure who else is priority right now. I would say we are starting the process of the 2019 class with the 2018 class being mainly done.

Time to grab a couple from Texas AM.

as the poster above said, we have 2-3 spots left. And with that, we would have to lose a few through attrition. I highly doubt any of our commitments are going to want to leave like many did in previous years. I can believe there may be some mutual agreements of players leaving. i.e.. if Moore decides to commit, I could see somebody leave. I could see Brohm flipping a couple of IU or Minn commits after they realize they jumped on the wrong boat. . I highly doubt Brohm signs any Jucos this year, but I could see him sign one or two transfers.

Looking at the roster, there are at least 10 kids from Ina Haze that are not playing at all. I'm guessing Brohm gave them a chance to up their game this year and not completely decimate the team. But, if they are still not contributing, it may be time for a heart to heart talk.

This 72-hour early signing period, Dec 20-22, in the middle of bowl season is going to create some awkward recruiting situations for bowl teams. Consider:

- There are seven bowl games in the days prior to the ESP.
- There are four bowl games during the ESP.
- There are three bowl games on the day after the ESP, Dec 23.
- There are another 26 bowl games from Dec 24 to Jan 1.

So if you're playing on Dec 22, where are your asst coaches? Getting LOIs signed or coaching the team?

Does all this chatter of Brohm being a candidate at certain schools keep some of our recruits from not signing early or possibly looking at other schools?
I am hoping a statement will come out soon that he is staying, which I think he will. I don’t want us to lose any momentum we have right now.

Nah. If a coach leaves, usually you are free to leave too.

The momentum and positive trajectory of Purdue`s Football Program with Brohm needs to be stabilized soon with a statement that Brohm is staying put.....
Would Brohm`s younger brother be an option to take over if JB did leave.......

The Brohms are a close knit family. I would assume if Jeff were to leave that Greg and Brian would too.

Relax. A head coach can't be expected to issue a public statement every time someone with a blog mentions his name. This will get sorted out very soon because Tennessee, or any other big name program without a coach, is under much more pressure to secure their own recruits.

Nobody is de-committing over some mild speculation. Besides, I'm sure all of 23 commits have his contact info.

I do not believe the early signing period is in april next year. I believe juniors may begin taking official visits in April, however cannot sign until December.

Concerning present roster attrition.....whatever happened to the following Haz era recruits;

Jonny Daniels -OL
David Yancey-RB
M Kimbrough-RB
David Rose-CB
Myles Norwood-CB

I know Chaz Turner had ACL tear and Patterson,Polk-Campbell & Roberts were dismissed over summer and T Landers transferred

Forgive my ignorance but I thought these players still had eligibility left but no longer see them listed on active player rosters? Thanks....

Daniels and yancey left the team. They wouldn’t have eligibility after this year. Norwood left the team as he couldn’t stay healthy. Rose was thrown off the team. Kimbrough left last summer.

If have talent, but just need to mature I am okay. If they won't be contributors, they need need to find others options.

After all the hand wringing a month ago about recruiting and average star rating, it appears things are shaping up for a very solid 2018 class. Those who would have traded classes with IU or Northwestern may need to reconsider. Brohm and staff have demonstrated some recruiting chops in the past couple months. Keeping the top recruits committed and upgrading where possible.

I took a look at our recruiting class rankings for the past 6 years. Rather than our ranking with teams, I looked at our average recruit ranking.

This year our average recruit is 83.01.

Last year, you pretty much assume was Brohm's first class as 23 out of 25 were his recruits. Not counting the jucos the rating was 81.88. And several of our jucos were pretty good.

Hazell's last class was 81.13. Prior to that, Hazell's classes were 81.75, and 82.45. and the class with half hazell recruits and half hope recruits was 82.72 including Etling.

it's clear Brohm is taking Purdue In the right direction. But when I see OSU has an average rating of 95+, we still have a ways to go. I'd like to see Purdue in the 85+ range and I believe that's also realistic. That would place Purdue in the top 30 nationally, and about 4-5th in the BIG 10. To me that's both realistic and acceptable.
