Raleigh Burgess

Guess that means Flory is not in the plans? This seems like a new name on our airwaves. Watched a little bit of video and he doesn't seem to be able to get off the ground that well. Good hands though.

Well, I am back. Probably would not be if this signing didn’t pop up in my. Twitter feed. Just took a look at his highlights. There is a big difference in athleticism between his early vids and the later ones. He does not mind contact in the slightest. Is very comfortable around the rim. Can shoot the three well. Not surprisingly his offer sheet is legit. Offer from big name schools all over the country. I am always biased be he looks to be a good get to me. Not worried about the weight at all. He’s got the body to put it on quickly

Probably mean we have no shot at taking both Harris and Perry. I would be happy with either, but I think we need more players like Harris. Really hope we don't take him just because we are short of scholarships.

That would be the real problem here. In a guards game Harris OR Perry will be more what is needed for Purdue to be athletic & perimeter orreieneted.

Not saying this kid isn't a great pick up. But passing on Harris or Perry would be an interesting choice. But perhaps the staff knows neither was coming here anyway???

He "backed off" like I backed off Jessica Alba.

Oh no you don't, Edward........

They still have two more openings and were always going to take at least one big. Flory isn’t coming but they still have room for him if he wanted to. Many thought that he was going to commit to Auburn last month. Staff is still hot on Perry and Harris and there were reports a couple of weeks ago that Purdue may be pulling ahead with Harris.

This is a win on all fronts and a guy Painter really wanted. Enjoy it.

Even if Painter thought he could get both, you can’t count on it and it makes more sense to take a high quality big who is ready to commit, especially since the 2023 class only consists of a guard in Colvin. Now I think that Painter can sell the final spot as a great opportunity to round out a great class for whoever is willing to commit first. I think it helps his chances with both Harris and Perry.

Agree. Had to have a big in this class with only Colvin coming in this year and Berg showing ongoing injury issues. You could always go to the portal and they may still but Painter and staff have been so successful in developing young bigs that it would be a shame to go two classes in a row without taking one.

We already have 2 wings committed with Benter and Catchings. We don't NEED a 4th guard/wing in this class, we needed a big. We will still take 1 of Harris or Perry.

I like this. He's been on our radar for a long time now. CMP wanted him and that's good enough for me. Burgess had a solid offer list it looks like too. Boiler up!
Kid plays on the same AAU team Indiana Elite as Flory so we have seen a lot of him. IMO he was the main target because he can play inside out. Moves well without the ball. Similar game to Caleb Furst.

I like our chance with both IMO we are pretty much a lock with Harris I can't imagine we would lose him. Most predict Purdue or Stanford.
Getting Burgess has to help with signing Perry (same AAU team) First to commit gets the scholarship?

That's how it will end up is my guess. We have an expected 5 scholarships to use for the 2024 class but I think we save 1 for possible portal needs/wants.

I'm really surprised that PU basketball hasn't (yet) landed one of Big Dogs kids but football did. GRob and Painter were teammates, I wonder if maybe they weren't all that close.

I'd like to think Purdue would take both, but it might be a little crowded for them if they want to play right away.

Perry's skillset with Smith and Loyer would be fun having 3 guards that can dribble, pass, and shoot like that. What a fun offense that would be. Some 3 point records might go down.

I think Harris best balances what the roster projects by being another shooter/combo that is also a string defender.

Furst/Burgess/Berg
TKR/Heide/Waddell
Colvin/Catchings/Benter
Fletch/Harris?
Smith/Perry?

Definitely need to add guards the rest of the way IMO.

Hopefully we plan on playing him at Center. I like Perry but just found out Harris is Big Dogs son. Give me Harris. In regards to Flory, I was never that high on him. Way too raw to be ranked so high.
Yeah Flory just seems like a kid you get hyped about, averages 9 and 7 his Freshman year, and then is off to the NBA.

I'd obviously love a talent like that, but getting a solid 4 year guy like Burgess might pan out better for the program in the long run.

Long story about GROB and Painter not offering because we supposedly didn’t have room. He was also not recruited heavily and blew up his senior year to become a 5 star. There is a podcast or video somewhere out there where he mentions being pissed that he didn’t get offered.
