I think I asked this before but can't find the thread (but when my 11 yr old daughter notices, I thought I should ask).

Even though I identify as black when necessary, and with you being the voice of black America on this board, help me understand:
When I'm in public, grocery store, etc, 90% of the people I see still wearing masks are black women and black children. Is this some sort of social/racial message or virtue signaling going on that I'm not aware of? Or are they just really paranoid still of covid?

What does urban radio and the boys at the barber shop say about this?

The FBI have been historically have been unkind to blacks, particularly in the 60's and 70's. One incident that comes to mind is the killing of black panther, Freddie Hampton in 1969. That was absolutely wrong. Plus the wrong doings of J. Edger Hoover in prior years. However, for the past 30 or so years, I haven't had any reason to distrust the FBI. Blacks have more of an issue with the CIA for flooding the the inner cities with crack cocaine back in the late 70's and 80's. But I know y'all don't want to know all this history because it will make your kids hate themselves.

As far as the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, it was not about a syphilis vaccine. As far as I know there never has been one. Not knowing what exactly what went on, I think a lot of people including a lot of blacks, incorrectly assumed the the 100's of black men in this experiment were injected with syphilis. For 40 years until the experiment ended in the early 70's, the gist of the experiment was not to treat the men with the disease. The gist was that the US government wanted to monitor the symptoms of the disease over a period of time. The black men already had syphilis prior to being involved in this cruel The black men, thinking that they being treated, were only given aspirin. Because of this cruel experiment aimed primarily at black people, this was one of reasons some blacks were skeptical of the COVID vaccines when they first came out.

As far as people still wearing masks, I don't know why you can't seem to understand but it is simple. People are still concerned about getting COVID. As far as black people still wearing masks, perhaps because a lot of blacks have pre-existing conditions getting COVID would be and have been detrimental for those types of folks.

I've never seen so many people so completely obsessed with race. I know you're pissed that you were wrong about the mask threats, but you literally turned a reply that had nothing to do with race into an accusation of racism, throwing in a little while privilege and enlightenment for good measure.
