Purdue Wide Receivers

Real interested in Tibbs in the slot. Did not see that one coming. Didn’t see him as the quick type to be in the slot, but if he runs great routes at his size that will be a nice weapon

In the Spring Game, CJ Smith and JDV were perimeters and Tibbs was slot. Harrell seems to like Tibbs there.
Tibbs and Sowinski are versatile and can line up anywhere receiver position.

6-3/-4slot that’s not known for his speed. More like a possession WR or Travis Kelsey.

Purdue fans who are seeing this team for the first time this Saturday might be surprised by how big Jahmal Edrine will be.
Tom Deinhart says he looks like a tight end.

Not only does he have good height and speed. He is bulked up.

Our starting Receivers for Indiana State.
Edrine 6’3
Tibbs 6’3
Rigby 6’3

Nice article from Dub profiling Jahmal.

It was a nice article. Those of us who can't see practices really don't know what this kid can do considering how early the injury was last year. I'm excited to see it in 49 hours.
He was going to be our #1 WR last year. They say he looks good in what little practice is open.

Did the coaches find a gem in Shamar Rigby?

He was a high 3* recruit, but was overlooked by many programs because he was part of a run heavy offense in high school.

Impressive that he came to campus couple months ago as a high school student and is about to make his first collegiate start as a true freshman.

Nice to see Nathan Baird back. Anyone know the specifics about going to O$U and then coming back?

After the Indiana State game, has your opinions of our receivers changed? Or no conclusions can be made from this game.

I think they all looked great. Deep, balanced roster of WRs. Big. Good hands. I think Rigby has the chance to be really special, and he only got a few targets today.

That being said, it's tempered of course. Indiana State was really, really bad. While I didn't watch the first half, Notre Dame's defense is obviously stout.

Their D is good, but benefiting from A&M offense being bad. Neither team looks super impressive. ND OL is bad and QB can’t throw

The Oregon teams struggled or are struggling with the Idaho teams. Fresno State is giving Michigan a fight. Hawaii is leading UCLA. Ohio State struggled. And I don't think that Notre Dame has shown anything special against Texas A&M. I think Purdue has a chance against all of those teams unless they improve drastically.

We have lots of problems but this has been my concern since the end of last season when all our receivers left. Everyone was so sure the SEC castaways and guys who have no history of staying healthy would enhance this offense. Maybe CJ Smith and edrine will come along late and provide a little bit of dignity for this WR room but it’s not looking good.

Actually CJ Smith was good enough to make the field and was probably going to get a bigger role this year, but decided to leave. He just wasn’t their top threat. Do I have reason to believe he isn’t talented enough to play at Purdue. Nope. Do you? Nope.

Big Ten Tour Bus sure thinks the WR room is a lot better. Why is thinking they could be good drinking koolaid when everyone who has seen them play has been impressed?
Still impressed with the WR corps?

The lack of production out of the passing game starts with the piss poor pass protection. Rarely does Card or Brown get a clean pocket to set up in and go through his reads. It's drop back, take a look and start scrambling.
But, that said, Card hasn't done a good job of throwing guys open either. An example is that 4th n goal throw to Edgerrin. The dud is 6'3, 215 with a much smaller DB on his. You have to put that ball up with some air under it and let the DB use his size. Instead, card puts it on a rope, in a bad spot and the WR has not shot.

Card is gunshy to the max. He won’t throw it unless a guy is completely uncovered.

When pressure comes his way,he drops his eyes which causes him to loose sight of his receivers... We all know that the thing that stops pressure is completing passes and burning the rush. Where is Mockobee or love for that matter on the screen or RB waggle plays?????

I agree. The purpose of my post was to point out to the Kool-aid drinkers that made comments about the OL, our SEC WR corps, and our highly ranked CB's all being vastly improved was a paper dream and had no basis in reality. I made this same comment after the spring scrimmage. It could also be that the players have talent but that the coaches are idiots.........but I am convinced that the BOT plans to keep Walters around for another year.

Why do you think the BOT will keep him another year?
Money?
Save face?
DEI?
Certainly not because they believe he is building a strong program?

I wouldn’t be surprised if iu looks to run up the score, like, hanging 70 if possible.
That’s unacceptable and deserves a firing.

"Could also be..." You are just a troll. Why don't you give up your 28-year season tickets again because of the coach. Yet you kept them thru Coletto and Hazell... right.

GTFO

Weird you point out the SEC WR corp when there are two of them. The two OL guys from smaller schools had good track records. The CB room was on the basis it couldn’t get worse. We didn’t realize the coaching staff wasn’t going to be able to utilize the talent effectively. It say it’s a 25% talent issue and a 75% coaching issue.

Simply the letter to the students in the Paint Crew threatening removal if the "Fire Walters" chant continues along with the recent Bobinski interview where he implied being satisfied with the work being done by Walters and his staff during practice.
