Why did we throw on third down when we were not trying to get a first down

The two killers to me were the first down sack in Maryland territory - then letting the Terps get out of poor field position. The game is right there for Purdue, but they'll need a good second half to take it.
With horrible play-calling to match. Brohm is 80% offensive genius and 20% high school coach.

Can't mix marginal talent with questionable coaching. Either recruit athletes or coach fundamentals. Penalties, tackling, missed assignments. It is terrible. Danny Hope like but yes better than Hazell.
Shades of Penn St and Syracuse failures. Gave them all the mo coming out of halftime. Poor clock management and play calling at the end of the half. Rinse and repeat.
So maybe a competent secondary coach teaches him to keep the play in front of him with less than a minute.
He is. But he bit on Tagovailoa running instead of covering. At that point we should have been in coverage 2. But no...
QB running from their own side of the field with 20 seconds left doesn’t hurt you.
