Purdue v. Wisconsin Game Thread

Sad as this may be, Jess Settles is actually making sense tonight. Before the game, he talked about Purdue's spacing being an issue at times.

Frankly, spacing has been a huge problem for a while now....it's been better generally this year but rearing its ugly head lately.

I know this debate has been going on for awhile, but it's halftime and I have to wonder if starting Haas is hurting him more then it is helping AJ?

It seems AJ is, being a senior, more able to adopt to both the way the game is being called, and how the other team decides to play our post.

We are getting less and less out of Haas in these tougher games. We need that one two punch back and I think Isaac would do better watching that unfold before seeing the floor.

First BT Road game and BT game for a few of these guys - think they are learning real quick this isn't gonna be easy. Those 3s by Biggie and that charge by Cline hurt. They will figure it out hopefully sooner than later

Speaking of Settles, I thought he still had a year of eligibility left....seemed like he played at TMHR for like eight years.

Quite frankly, I think people overestimate Haas. That's not a knock on him, and he has improved this year, but he's not going to come in and be AJ. Haas can come in and dominate a mid-major with average talent inside, but he's not going to consistently dominate in the Big Ten yet. He will have some good games and he will have some bad games. And if AJ is playing well, he's probably not going to see 15 minutes a game.

I'd also add that it is almost routine to see an early foul inside on both ends of the court (happened tonight). Better that AJ is not one of those.

Agreed. On a neutral court Boilers roll by 15...more if they make some 3s

Haas is better than he is playing though. It seems that he takes a bad shot, fouls someone or turns it over, etc. and he goes into a shell............he has to be more confident of himself. He has gotten a lot better and needs to realize it himself.

That's where the Boilers really need AJH and Ray Davis.....they've seen good and bad and they should know what it takes. Thankfully neither picked up a 2nd foul in the first half.

Agreed, and I think it's one of the traits of growing as a center. It's a tough position to play for a number of reasons.

Time to step up Boilers. No more of this heartburn. I have faith we will whomp on them in the 2nd.

He needs to get a chip on his shoulder and get pissed off .... if that's possible for him. Big kids are told so many, many times "not to hurt anyone" that sometimes they can't be as aggressive as they MUST be at this game.

Well, my prediction is holding true at least!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crack open another beer................

CMP should lob a call into McHale (he's a Big Ten alum) to help with IH keeping the ball above the fray. One of the best all-time at that.

Geez, Thompson's shot looks like my wife's...only it goes in way more often
