Purdue v. Illinois Game Thread

On a side note, kudos to Illinois. Way to hold a lead against a "good" team on a night honoring a legend at home.
They honor him all the time, don't make it sound like they were honoring him. My god, they had a tribute last year, it's getting old and the Illini fans are making me sick to my stomach.

Oy.. and here we go with people jumping off the ledges like last year.

I seriously wonder why some of you watch when you take things to such extremes when we lose.

Am I wrong? Are you optimistic that Painter is going to coach these guys up? Do you think a couple more recruiting cycles are going to produce a solution when you consider we would be relying on Painter's recruiting skills?

We have the best defense in the country. Groce just out-coached the Boilers and the Boilers just got outplayed and then some. It will be an embarrassing week for Purdue then we just need to buckle up and play some ball this week in a huge game for the Boilers.

Down by 10, this possession is where we come back, mark my words. The comeback starts now and the Boilers win. (MARK THIS POST at the 10 point deficit mark). 5:42 left on the clock

Good call. You really know your stuff.

Is there no way to make the troll go away? Kudos to Illinois, if the two studs they have don't play lights out they have no chance though. They shot like 60% for most the game. Not going to happen again for them. Enjoy it now.

#1 or #2? Maybe 6th.
we are the #1 defense in the country, so being #2 in the big ten (overall) in KenPom is not unrealistic come Mondays new list. I anticipate rising to #19 as well due to the fact so many teams lost and will drop out of the top 25. We are looking good and this was just a blip.

You are such a sore loser.

I am just shocked. I did not see the game. watched the stats and looked at the comments. I had no worries coming into this game.

On to the next one I guess. My sons 8th grade soccer team has more talent than any school team should ever have and yes, some matches they just don't have it.

Good luck in the soccer contest.

Painter shouldn't be fired. He will get us to 22-12 and make the tournament most years. As long as you are in the middle, Purdue loves you. It is not a "bad" team but was sold as a top 3 conference team. I hoped a Sweet 16 team. To lose essentially lose 2 now you were supposed to win is a tremendous hole. We lost 2 without injuries or anything like that. And losing these games the exact same way is beyond frustrating and I don't think problems can be corrected. We were sold on depth; if this guy has a bad night, that guy can step up. Everyone is playing bad. And watching Kendall Stephens shoot 28% with no defense... I mean... Make it stop!

I agree. This was a great offensive display by Hill and Nunn. They made a lot of very tough shots today that other opponents have been missing all year. With the way that the game was being called, Purdue just didn't have guys who could contain them, except Davis, when he wasn't on the bench with foul trouble.

My only complaint about Painter this game is that I thought that he sat Hammons too early and too long in the second half.

Well considering things turned around last year and we have a 5 * recruit already on the team along with other good... and young talent... I think things are better off than some people think.

I said before this season that I thought our best chance for a deep run is next year and I still think that. Biggie isn't one and done for sure and we are essentially forced to no t be one dimensional since AJ will be gone. Those are my simple, long standing expectations.

If we flop then, I will start to wonder ...a lot... but I'm not giving up as easily as others yet.

Whend AJ went out he was holding his knee.. might of been just a tweak, but appear like something went on.

"Groce just out-coached the Boilers"

Take a minute and let that sink in. Outcoached by Izzo? Ok, that happens to almost anyone. Outcoached by Groce? Yuck.

Next year? Lose our "best player" in AJ, our best "leader" in Davis, and probably our only legit PG in Hill. I think it will be a MP team... 22-11, 5th in Big 14, win one you shouldn't, lose two you shouldnt, and go 1-1 in NCAA.
