Purdue made Gicari Harris's final six.

Gee, let me guess who you're talking about.

Could it be.........S--H--A--K--A!!!!!!!!!!

Give me more guards like E'Twaun Moore, Carsen Edwards.
Give me more bigs like Robbie Hummel, JaJaun Johnson.

3 of the 4 became Boilers because JJ loved Cuonzo Martin.
Even with NIL, Purdue needs Cuonzo back as Associate HC.
And he is currently available, too. Go Boilers!
Don’t forget to get some Glenn Robinson’s, some Jaden Iveys, and mix in some Brad Millers too.

In that scenario, agree that a fresh start from the CGK / CMP tree wouldn't be bad but think it might be more appropriate to describe it as a "philosophical change" - not culture, should that occurr.

Culture of boiler ball is outanding and very healthy IMO and one would hope that aspect would not change
What I'm specifically referring to is "Purdue doing more with less". The perception that despite Purdue not recruiting top talent, they still produce some good teams. I don't think that helps recruiting and convincing top talent to come to Purdue.

I have not read every comment. Here is what I know he has limited contact with his dad. Gelen and his sister have been big influences on him regarding Purdue. The kid is a beast on defense the likes of which we haven't had since Ray Davis IMO. I love watching him play tough loves contact. He shoots over 40% from three really selective on shooting his ability to drive the lane gets him open shots from three. If I were to compare him to A former player. It would be Ray Davis. Although Ray scored 50 plus twice in HS. With G that probably won't happen because he loves to pass still averaged over 20 in HS and AAU. I have been following him for a few years if he had a final 6 this time last year, I doubt we would have made the cut. But Painter has been working his butt off on him. I like our chances but wouldn't bet the farm on it.
Better defender than Eastern, two time all B1G defensive team selection?

For various reasons it would be a pretty big miss for Purdue not to sign him at this point versus that group of schools. With Jones leaving after this year he'd likely be stepping into significant minutes on a top ten team from day one.

The very bottom 10% of coeds at LSU, Miami, and possibly Standford is easily comparable to the top 10% at Purdue fwiw.

Just a comment. Not sure it belongs here but aren't we past the point of dissing on Peck for taking the NIL money or even focusing on the NIL as a negative for Purdue?

Its been reported that Zach received over $800K last year and given the year he had I'm guessing he could get more this year. While unlikely, I wouldn't rule out Zach coming back for his Covid Year. I was surprised. Most European basketball players don't make over $1 million per year although a few do. He may be able to make more money at Purdue than in any other league other than the NBA.

Fair comment. Unless / until Purdue is willing to pay market for high level transfers I don't think it's unreasonable to call NIL a negative for Purdue (in the same way that dropping bags under the table was previously a disadvantage). By all accounts Pack would have come to Purdue if not for NIL and while we are paying to keep players I'm not convinced that if it happened again Purdue would be ready to pay him a competitive rate to come here.

Anyone who holds that choice against Pack is, IMO, not being realistic.

I guess the part of debate for me is, did Zach get the guaranteed or is that what he made based on all his accolades etc? I think it is the later. My understanding is Pack was given guaranteed money.

Good Gawd that's awful, and even worse than Purdue's NIL situation.

Most presumed, mid tier coeds were bussed in on weekends from Valpo, ISU, and Wabash for the MBB and Football teams.
I'm not following... so you are saying the mid-tier coeds were bussed in for your team's MBB players, meaning IU? Right. I always figured that. Thanks for clarifying, dawg. It is probably one of the few things IU MBB and football has going for it this year.

I thought he could have been referring to IU bringing in kids from other schools like Ivy Tech to fill their student section.

I can see iu BB and FB being interested in the guys being bussed in from Wabash. Isn't that an all male school?

I think part of the hold up is that offering a player a NIL package as a recruitment tool (vs. giving one to someone who has already signed) is still illegal according to the NCAA. They haven't enforced that yet, but Purdue is a more conservative administration than most so I can't imagine they would blatantly break one of the few rules the NCAA has on NIL like some of the big football schools, and Miami in basketball.

Don't hold anything against Pack for taking a payday, would have been huge for our team if we had landed him (experience at the PG/SG position is what held us back the most last year imo).

Assumming teammates are the exact same, I'd take JJ because he would
do better in March Madness for Purdue, especially on defense.
Assume we're talking senior JJ versus sophomore Biggie here? Agree with your point but for me it depends on who those teammates are. If you've got a fairly loaded team I take JJ for the reasons you stated. If you need someone who has a chance to put the team on his back I'd take Biggie as IMO he did that better / more frequently than JJ.

A question about Biggie. If he had returned to Purdue would he have elevated his game any higher than it was? Would he have maintained his level of play? Or would his production / performance have tailed off? I’ve seen many all Americans Who come back to school and it seemed like their production either tailed off or was just quite not as good as their all American year! The player at Kentucky is one example

The kid from Kentucky notoriously didn’t work hard in the offseason and came in out of shape. Zero chance that happens with Biggie. Absolutely believe he would have continued to improve.

Fair enough. All I know is I want more ballers on Purdue's team like
E'Twaun Moore, Robbie Hummel, JaJaun Johnson, Kelsey Barlow (with
head on straight), Keaton Grant, Carsen Edwards, Nojel Eastern, Aaron
Wheeler, Matt Haarms........guys with lots of versatility on both sides of
the ball that can run the floor and are laterally quick in half-court defense.

Half of our current team does not fit this mold sadly. I want Cuonzo Martin
brought back as Associate Head Coach. Xavier Booker and Flory Bidunga
would both be Boilers if Zo were on staff. Purdue just flat out needs more
athleticism. About the only limited player I would want is a 6'6'' Ryan Cline.

Hope we get Harris over Perry in 2024 because Harris has more to offer.

Minus Wheeler and Eastern and I agree.
