Purdue got hosed.

I don’t care what anyone says. Purdue got hosed.

Multiple missed out of bounds calls which gave Houston possession. Most notably one that resulted in a Cryer three pointer.

Multiple BS fouls on TKR and Furst while legally boxing out.

And, of course, the blatant push-off that wasn’t called.

What a joke. Refs were a disgrace.
They knew what they were doing. With no repercussions , these jackasses can get away with this day in , day out.

I mean they did miss the first goaltending too, fouls weren’t why we lost. Just missed open shots that we usually hit. It happens . Really sucks but that was a great game to watch and was probably our best game all

The worst part is there was never a makeup call the other way. OK you screws up an obvious out of bounds call. Bail us out in the next possession or so. better officiating and we win. no doubt in my mind.

Ha - in the old NBA days, that's what they would have done......Earl Stom/Mendy Rudolph/Richie Powers - call the push-off, it's a non-shooting foul, Purdue had no time-outs.....probably OT.......

Honestly i get the no call push off because it was definitely embellished. He did push off though. I can't get over the terrible official under the west side basket. He gave uh 3 points on that terrible out of bounds call. He didn't call the foul when furst was mauled in the first half. he gave uh multiple foul calls on offensive rebounds that just don't make sense. Then we get on the other side you have tkr getting textbook hook and hold yet he gets a ticky tack offensive foul on a rebound. Forget that it wasn't even ticky tack it was straight up a horrible call.

Painter is a bottom 5 ref worker. honestly one of his weakest attributes. He didn't need to be izzo or hurley level but he really needs to get more angry out there. I understand it a little on the 2 out of bounds calls because it's the far side, but you know keady would have had a bit more fire on that bs. The far side official was screwing us the entire game it felt like.

Sorry but this is just not accurate. Painter works the refs constantly .. just because you aren't seeing it doesn't mean it isn't happening. I have zero doubt he was on the refs, he just doesn't make a spectacle of it.

I said something to that effect to my wife and you could see the refs eyes pop watching the deflection on Cam out of bounds as that watched his arms getting pulled down and a second missed foul. I wondered if they were trying to figure a way to change the call.

I do agree with @DwaynePurvis00 - we can blame the refs for giving them extra possessions but we hit 2/3 shots and grab 2/3 more boards, nothing matters. We don’t come out cold at half…lot to be excited about for next year.

Just gotta make sure we bring everyone back and keep em happy….i think we will

The refs stand out for the plays at the end, but I thought we got most of the calls in the first half. Add to that the obvious goaltending that was not called (and is not reviewable) and it's probably a wash. The key was that the calls that favored Houston were late.

And yes, Painter works the refs. He did last night plenty. He's just not an asshole about it and never will be.

Lol his working the refs don't work. uh hacked us the entire second half they got baked for 5 fouls. again he has to be one of the worst at working the refs.

Trying going to a game once. The whole "working the refs" isn't even a thing anymore for the most part .. Fran did it all the time to the point it was a meme and how did that work?

In fact here is a pic of him doing exactly what you say he isn't. Again just because you aren't seeing it, doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I was in indy lol. Uh had 5 fouls in the second half. I could have called 5 fouls in the last 5 minutes.

Kelvin def got the refs on his side. maybe it works with big ten regular refs, but it doesn't during tourney play.

"Didn't work" lol. Maybe the refs just missed calls. I assure you Izzo or whoever doesn't magically get as many calls as you think.
And just because we see things on TV doesn't mean the coaching staff can from where they sit. To me it's a ridiculous argument and aside from it being a non-factor.. a box out, rebound or made shot that we missed makes it moot anyway.

Fouls were 14-13. Agressive teams with good defensive reputations get away with stuff. It's not because Cellvin worked the refs better. The refs are human. They know going in UH is "tough and aggressive" and I'm sure in their minds some of those hard plays that they might call in another game their split-second reaction is to chalk it up to good defense.

I mean the announcers said early in the game that MP was working the refs, which was always the complaint. Now its 'he doesn't do it right'.
Team played their butts off and lost to a tough team. No shame in that. I feel a lot better about that than a lot of other exits we have had.

Talking about the second half. they didn't just stop hacking us to death after the first half...

And I don't care about uh and purdue having close to the same number of fouls. uh play style is to foul and fate officials to call it and Kelvin's job is to work the refs so they don't. Kelvin won the second half in part because he team could rape ours with no lube. 5 fouls... pathetic that is what working the refs looks like.

Exactly and it isn't the first time it's been mentioned. The "he isn't doing it right" has got to be the single most ridiculous critique of Painter yet.

Could you have called goaltending on Furst?

Was the officiating bad? sure when you lose.

But Purdue had its chances. We missed a bunch of open looks from 3 and just gave up too many offensive rebounds. But we were still in position for a chance to win at the end. We got the stop but couldn’t secure the rebound.
Good Lord we are agreeing on this lenny. Officiating was horrible sure but in a game like last night, singling that out takes away from the truly great game the team had (as a whole.. wasn't perfect) against a very loaded Houston team.

Yeah the whole Kelvin worked the refs better is all in your head.

Braden doesn’t throw that half court lob that sailed out of bounds. Cam takes that three without taking an extra dribble. Myles doesn’t take that off balance mid range with under 4 minutes….the list goes on and on.

Not blaming the refs but that if that push off is called against Uzan, we are in the E8.
