IMO, if Myles is that talented, it would have shown in practice and it would have translated to more minutes and success on the court. Unfortunately it didn't. Again, my opinion. I never attended a practice.

I’m upset of the potential of what he could have been if he stayed and improved. However his production wasn’t that good except for a few games so the team isn’t going to miss much. 31 percent from 3 and couldn’t dribble.
We have plenty of scholarships currently. We could get one of everything needed at this point.
Having talent and wanting to put in the work to showcase it also helps. Especially on a team already filled with talent like we are and will be going forward.
I’m sorry to see him go but I understand the logic - I wouldn’t be surprised to see Painter bring in a 5 and a 3 at this point. I will commend him on his improved defense. Just never had the consistency we needed making 3s and didn’t offer much else on the offensive end. I wish him well!
The reason Colvin was so frustrating as a fan, at least this one, wasn't the fact that he was simply a spot-up shooter. It was the fact that virtually every 3 he took was wide open. And he only shot 31%. I'd say less than 5% of his attempts were contested. Contrast that with how many contested 3s Braden and Fletch took.
I wish it could have worked out, but it's really not that surprising if you think about it, and I'm not sure it's not the correct result for the program. That remains to be seen.

fully understand...fully and there are reasons to be that way so that you are not used as a last choice. I get that.
You'd have to be an insane coach to run plays for an Aaron Wheeler. Sorry but 4th and 5th options don't get plays run for them.

I liked Myles just fine and I think he has a chance to be a good player. To this point he's more potential than production.
One of them is leaving and one will be the starter on a national championship contender. Again.

bottom line, you want to replicate game conditions and speed IMO...after warmed up which may consist of streak shooting like you see with Myles. Always liked pairing up players with a rebounder. Catch and shoot, catch..shot fake and shoot, catch and one dribble then shoot, catch and two dribbles and shoot (both directions and space covered with dribble). This is where I thought Wheeler never helped himself and some thought practicing non game conditions were okay and so different opinions exist.
I'll nuance that with, "but doesn’t give others the chance to expand their game" through failure and growth. This is why you can find good 6'1" to 6'8" players out of the P5 conference after a few years of growth where the competition has some weak links and allows some growth and some players after a couple of years that were borderline out of high school have now experienced more things and grew their game.
I like Fletcher Loyer , he is a really great shooter but is a defensive liability. Just look at the final 4 guards , where do you see a skinny , slow and unathletic guard . Last year we got there riding Zach Edey with good shooters to help and good defense because he covered up mistakes.
And maybe that is what MC did after this warm up. I would have hoped so.
I am guessing he was praised growing up for being so talented and not for the effort he put into developing that talent. Why he couldn't catch up to Fletcher even though he might have more raw talent.

We've been stacking talent as our program has improved. In the days before the portal, great programs always had more talent on the bench than most teams started. The difference was that setting out a season when transferring and no open checkbooks kept the players on the team even if unhappy. I miss the old transfer rule.
before games I usually only see spot shooting. Few shoot off the dribble.

Let’s hope Myles tests the waters and decides to come back.
Matt obviously trusted him as he played 24 minutes in a very important game.
He’s 19. Matt should give him some rope here.
If he works at his game over the summer, gains some better handles and betters his driving ability and his shot, he could be a 1st round pick by his Senior year.
Painter had no problem putting him in as a sub for Loyer in critical game situations.
As far as what I feel is typical of entering the portal as well as what Rosevelt responded, I really feel like there is no chance that he returns.
I want to thank all the Colvins for their contributions to Purdue and wish Myles the best. He's still young and improving and will be a good addition for someone. I'm just sorry it won't be us.

Interesting comment. I get that someone as outspoken as Rosey will defend his kid on X; however, I'm not seeing what he's seeing. Myles never showed the ability to be able to take anyone off the dribble. The athleticism was there. The ball handling ability was not. What system will work for him?

It sucks to lose a legacy, but if Myles believes he’ll get guaranteed starter minutes and be a featured scorer somewhere else, then he absolutely should move on.
He is still so young— perhaps the change of scenery and less pressure to meet expectations will be good for him.

We came within an inch of beating a 1-seed and a chance to go to the Final Four. No excuses, but we didn't lose because of Loyer.
Colvin had opportunity in practice, and in games. Loyer deserved to start and play over Myles. I'm not going to beat the kid up, but I really saw no reason to play him in place of Loyer or even Furst. He had opportunities to score and rebound But didn't produce much in the way he played. Granted, his defense was better at the end, but he was needed to come off the bench and score. Had he done so, we might be in the final four.
I wish him and his family well.
One that fast breaks a lot more probably, that gets out and runs. One where plays are run for him. I'm not saying we didn't run enough plays for him here, simply that his role was basically come in, hit some shots, play a little defense, back to the bench.
There's no need to accuse him of not working hard enough or anything other than he saw that he wasn't going to maximize his potential here, and that's true, he probably wasn't ever going to be more than a 15-20 minutes a game max backup player here except maybe his senior year and no guarantees there.
If he wanted more she needed to leave.

Fletch can draw a charge better than any player in college basketball.
He's smart and he understands the game better than most. Going to be interesting to see how he plays next season.
My guess is that’s not happening anywhere better than Purdue. The elite teams all have athletes on the perimeter who can breakdown a defender and drive to score or create an open shot for someone else. It appears he can’t do that.
Unless he goes down a level. Maybe a Butler or Xavier.
I'd guess Butler is out with the recruiting class they have coming in. ISU could certainly use him.
Shrews might have some interest … I don’t know that he’s figuring he’s going to some elite top ten team… I do think there are teams in the B1G that will show interest, I’m not sure he wants to transfer within the league though … I hope he doesn’t.
If Colvin becomes a Badger…he may haunt us the next two years.
