December 16th. Purdue not shying away from a tough non conference schedule.
My guess is we return the game in 2024-25 …maybe phoenix?Im curious, why would AZ agree to a game thats on a nuetral court, but very close to West Lafayette? Purdue surely has a small advantage.
Indiana played them in Vegas last year.Im curious, why would AZ agree to a game thats on a nuetral court, but very close to West Lafayette? Purdue surely has a small advantage.
Because it’s a “neutral” site without being neutral. Need to have a fan base nearby. How many people would go see this game if it were in Miami in a non tournament type atmosphere?Im curious, why would AZ agree to a game thats on a nuetral court, but very close to West Lafayette? Purdue surely has a small advantage.
I don’t really feel like playing in Indy has traditionally been an advantage for Purdue over the years and this is a great opportunity for Arizona to play a likely #1 seed. Best case for Arizona, they get a signature win and worst case they get a loss that doesn’t really cost them in seeding. Regardless, they get a nationally televised game and pretty decent exposure.Im curious, why would AZ agree to a game thats on a nuetral court, but very close to West Lafayette? Purdue surely has a small advantage.

Yes. They may have been #1?Didn't Purdue get a big win over a highly ranked Arizona team in Indy during the Jason Gardner era?
Yes. They may have been #1?
That's right. I remember the 2001 season being very frustrating. Purdue was coming off an E8 appearance and started out looking like an NCAA Tournament team. But, Rodney Smith and John Allison went down with major injuries within a week of each other in January or February. And the bottom fell out. Purdue lost something like 6 or 7 games in a row and had to scramble to get into the NIT.Nov - 2000, yes Arizona was #1 when Purdue beat them 72-69. Rodney Smith with 20 and Willie Deane with 16 for the Boilers.
Also, Arizona was still technically #2 when Purdue dealt them a third loss in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament ('17), securing 7th place.
Both had a broken foot iirc. And yes it ruined a promising season. That's right. I remember the 2001 season being very frustrating.
