Their pathetic guards pressured Smith into being a turnover machine and consistently got the ball to the paint. Didn’t say they were great but they are bigger and more athletic than us.IU is better talent? Please, their guards are awful.

… and he has to revert to hero ball or forced passes to TKR because no one else ( excepting Loyer sometimes) exists as a credible scoring threat. We are playing better talent and physical guards just get up into him. Too many teammates aren’t offensive threats so opponents jam up the lane. Same problems all season.
Starting to wonder if Braden was sick like the rumor. He usually gets more aggressive towards the end of the game if it’s tight, I never saw that. Overall, again, I think Purdue puts too much emphasis on defending a three ball and they need to shift more to defending the lane And pick a choose who they defend three ball on and the rest they slide under the screens so that we’re not switching screens all the time we keep the player of the player we want rather than other team seeking out the advantage they want.
I don’t think it’s healthy that other teams know we almost always double the post and I don’t think it’s healthy. The end of the team know that with the ball goes inside and it’s one on one. He’s gonna try to score because they could just delay the coverage and they already are not worried about it. They just play that even up if they want or double to last minute.
I bought record for wanting Purdue to go under screens more than they do and have significantly less switches or trailing the offense player by going on top. I don’t know that I can explain anything to your liking. It is my best guess even though I have a different thought is my best guess that I believe Matt thinks that if you keep the rules the same every game pretty much that this process that he likes is consistent and you get better with it. That was the reasoning behind plain man anyhow was to get better with it as the season goes on however, I would like a few little tweaks to the Mann defense. Its against the rules to play zone vs bad shooters just as it is a rule that you HAVE to go over screens 35 feet from the basket even when the ball handler doesnt shoot or cant make 3s.
I have learned that these unwritten rules exist because there is no way painter is actually ****ing stupid enough to do these things consistently otherwise.
Of course. And he’s from the Indy area. I’m just saying BS looks like a guy who bought into some hype, and he’s playing super cool like he’s better than he is. Why is that? No idea.So basketball players can't go on dates? Weird take dude.
Furst has been terrible these last 4 games. Absolutely putrid.Furst just takes up space under the basket. He doesn't want the ball on offense making no effort to score.
Thank heaven and all the saints I’m not a stupid Iowa fan.Hey, maybe we could pickup Fran at season's end? I heard he's stepping down. Wanted to go out...on top...and stuff.
playin like he owes $$ to guys w/ names like Little Lou, Fat TonyI dunno. It's cumulative. Four days of rest might not be enough at this point.
You said it buddy! A great coach would do it.Glad we never play zone when we are playing against opponents that cannot hit shots outside of 15 feet.
Maybe some Berg. At least has some size to get a few rebounds.Furst has been terrible these last 4 games. Absolutely putrid.
Not sure what else to do. Go back to Heide and Colvin in the starting 5? They're showing signs of life but far from putting any fear in defenses.
Those 3 are lacking as well. Those 3 either win games or lose games. This 4 game skid is on them as well.Wow, mid year, I thought my prediction of 9-10 losses early was wacky.
But here we are.....9 losses.
This team just severely lacks talent beyond our 3 juniors....and Cox who is just young.
I agreed with your predicted losses but now it's going to be worse. Team cannot play PnR defense the way it does without a rim protector.Wow, mid year, I thought my prediction of 9-10 losses early was wacky.

That's why I said something is going on with him besides fatigue. These guards should not cause him problems. If they truly can cause him issues and nothing is wrong with him, then we can put any talk of him leaving to rest. Because these guards are not good and are nothing like he would face at the next level.Their pathetic guards pressured Smith into being a turnover machine and consistently got the ball to the paint. Didn’t say they were great but they are bigger and more athletic than us.

Maybe maybe not? Purdue will not be scouted as much as big teams scout them. The flaws may not be as apparentWe should be unranked by the start of the week and probably a 6 seed. Looking good down the stretch. This team will bail out in Round 1.
We just played Berg today and he looked absolutely horrible.Maybe some Berg. At least has some size to get a few rebounds.
Is it really that hard of a scout? It's not like we are multi-dimensional.Maybe maybe not? Purdue will not be scouted as much as big teams scout them. The flaws may not be as apparent
Every team is bigger and more athletic than us. I’ve never understood painters fascination with tiny guards and unathletic players.Their pathetic guards pressured Smith into being a turnover machine and consistently got the ball to the paint. Didn’t say they were great but they are bigger and more athletic than us.
It wouldn't take much scouting to see what we want to do. We aren't that complicated of a team.Maybe maybe not? Purdue will not be scouted as much as big teams scout them. The flaws may not be as apparent
Only his 5th foul was bogus? Lots of bogus calls today on several different players. Just not against anyone wearing a white jersey. Sure, we played poorly in stretches, but every time we started to make a run...there was yet another whistle.Bogus 5th foul on Furst. Somebody didn't want us to win.
scored more then the women's team todayMr. Silver lining here folks, Fletch with 18 and finding his way to be more assertive and Myles Colvin.
Gotta look hard for something after this nightmare half.
Barely plays at BYUWould that dude that went to BYU have helped or nah?
Matt's a conservative dude, probably why a mostly conservative fan base loves him.I bought record for wanting Purdue to go under screens more than they do and have significantly less switches or trailing the offense player by going on top. got a pointYou have to get players. Not just guys you think are diamonds in the rough.
There is a reason or reasons why Berg has not played in any game for a long, long time and there’s a reason why he was inserted today to see how things wentWe just played Berg today and he looked absolutely horrible.
And how did they go?There is a reason or reasons why Berg has not played in any game for a long, long time and there’s a reason why he was inserted today to see how things went
I agree he will probably change his stance on the portal. Maybe not as quickly as we want, but I think he will come around to that.Matt's a conservative dude, probably why a mostly conservative fan base loves him.
He does change but pretty slowly.
I suspect he will change on the portal. I doubt he changes much on doing one thing and doing it very well. That's just his baseline worldview and that doesn't change for most people for good or bad.
Oh, you can quickly see tendencies of some players, but you can’t look at a film and see how strong or quick they are and depending on which games you see, they may be representative of what you’re able to do or what you’re not able to do if you try to mimic another team play against them. If you guess correctly and your estimation of the speed, the quickness and strength who really shoots and who doesn’t who can who can’t if you if you do that correctly and your team makes the strength of the team that you see playing against Purdue that is a good film session. Otherwise there’s gonna be some guesses until you really get out on the court and learn at that point in time if you see the Michigan game first with their size you get baby one impression if you see the IU game you may get a different depression with size at least this last game. There’s always some gas work but grouping the three players grouping the ball screens with Trey with Brandon that will be hard to scout. Is it really that hard of a scout? It's not like we are multi-dimensional.
you and me, we both said 9 loses and being around 5th in the BIG10, so I was psyched a bit w/ some wins vs the bottom feedersWow, mid year, I thought my prediction of 9-10 losses early was wacky.
But here we are.....9 losses.

As an attorney I am absolutely 100 percent process based. I told the attorneys I supervised it wasn't great to win a case they were supposed to win if their process sucked and it wasn't bad to lose a case if their process was good.I agree he will probably change his stance on the portal. Maybe not as quickly as we want, but I think he will come around to that.
He is very adamant that "process based" is the way to go. I can't argue with that when you are winning and your process is working. But you have to be ready to pivot when it isn't. In that way I think he is slow to adapt because the current "process" is all they practice.
Can’t recall if a foul led to Ballo making one FT or not. StillIve already listed why Matt might do what Matt did concerning Berg in this game. Berg wasn’t the problem todayAnd how did they go?
If you don't pressure Smith and allow him to free flow out there, then yes, he and TKR can be very effective. However, it doesn't take too much scouting to see how you disrupt us. Smother Smith and force the offense to do something else, actually anything else, and we struggle.Oh, you can quickly see tendencies of some players, but you can’t look at a film and see how strong or quick they are and depending on which games you see, they may be representative of what you’re able to do or what you’re not able to do if you try to mimic another team play against them. Your client might disagree with the bolded! But seriously, I think we are on the same page. Have your process and work it to the best you can. I agree with you though that the implicit assumption is that the process itself works.

When the opponent misses need to push the ball and get some transition points. Walking it up for the half court offense is getting shut down for long stretches. When nobody gets open he has to create. He needs some more help. But I agree, how could it be exhaustion?
He fouled, then he fouled again on a horrible screen the very next play which led to a turnover and then he didn't play again. Can’t recall if a foul led to Ballo making one FT or not. StillIve already listed why Matt might do what Matt did concerning Berg in this game. Berg wasn’t the problem today
WTF are you even talking about? That was as deliberate as could be. He didn't kick him hard, but he certainly made contact. Nevermind there was a foul called on Leal on the floor which was then inexplicably wiped away after the review. For not kicking Furst in the nuts?
Interesting.
Leal wasn’t looking at Furst when it happened. Furst’s immediate reaction was to throw his hands in the air and complain to the refs. The next thing he did was bounce up and keep complaining.
I’ve been hit in the nuts playing sports and my immediate reaction has always been gasping for air in pain.
Clients never agree when they lose lolYour client might disagree with the bolded! But seriously, I think we are on the same page. Have your process and work it to the best you can. But if it isn't working you must be prepared to pivot quickly.
Does Iowa actually have fans? I dunno. This is 2025 after all. Pretty sure that just AI generated deepfakes siting in seats a Carver Hawkeye. And IowaMuse is actually none other than Fran McCaffery himself.Thank heaven and all the saints I’m not a stupid Iowa fan.
What a miserable existence that must be.
