Oh and refs ruined another game and painter has yet to do anything. That is 6 out of last 7 games refs have single handedly helped our opponent massively
Smith clearly worn down, Loyer disappeared second half and TKR missed a lot of bunnies down the stretch
When Trey lost the ball, I told Kim at the timeout that I looked for them to leave a three-point shooter open at the double on tray. You just knew Purdue were wanting to get the ball to the way he was scored.

Not exactly hard to predict what we were going to do. Pretty sure everyone in the building knew TKR was going to get it and try to back him down. The only surprise was Illinois didn't do it sooner.
They shot the lights out the last 10 minutes. Refs didn't help but Illionis won the game with some really crazy 3 point shooting when it counted
He played a great game. He couldn't hit but this team lost because they are back to the 75-100ish defensive team they were at the beginning of the year which will lose you lot of games.
Braden is the least of our worries. He'll be fine.
Need a big guy who can play defense and rebound in the portal. 2026 or bust.
What did I just watch? How did they do absolutely nothing offensively in the final 2 minutes? That was BRUTAL. They also didn't defend the perimeter well down the stretch and paid dearly. You can argue about officiating, but that didn't lose the game. So disappointing to end the regular season that way.
Good shooting certainly, but those were mostly open looks....Jakucionis had a nice step-back. Agree though, credit the Illini, they took the game from the Boilers down the stretch.

That type of player should be able to close the game
He just isn’t that guy right now which is a big reason they didn’t win the Big Ten

Each of the recent L’s has a common theme and it’s the struggles of Smith in the clutch
10 point lead coming out of under 12:00 timeout and TKR is still on bench. Huge mistake by CMP. They cut it to 3 before he could get him back in and it was dogfight the rest of the way.
I wouldn't go that far, but we do need someone like Lance Jones who makes big plays when the stars are gassed. Smith just ran out of legs at the end.

Finish 5-5 on the road in conference.....lost the last four, but had the lead at halftime in three of them and trailed by two in the other. Just getting worn down in the second half of those games it appears.
Still a lot to play for, but they likely made the path a little tougher now.
Agree. The B1G POY traditionaly hits those down the stretch. I'm sure he is pissed because he had 4 or 5 clean looks down the stretch.
Purdue was better.

One of those timeouts Cox scored underneath the basket and I thought Purdue was a really good shape at that time
