So, I was, and largely remain in, the anti-portal camp. Over time, free agency has all but eliminated my interest in NFL and NBA (both of which I once loved). In short, both sports are too focused on their star players for my taste, and I'd rather hear quasi-nuanced evaluation of a team's execution and strategy. I get the players, especially given the revenue they create, should have better options. But if Im going to start getting mad about how the world isnt fair, college athletics isnt anywhere near the top of my list.
That said, portal movement seems to largely focus on irrelevant players pursuing playing time, and that has a very marginal impact on a teams depth chart. So I've been pleasantly surprised at how little thought I put into this subject.
For those that were also hesitant about the portal, curious what your thoughts have been.
