I get that, however, that does not excuse his horrible shot selection at any size. He'd be so more valuable to stop forcing up these ridiculous shots. I do hold Painter responsible. This is crazy that it's allowed. Mathias is now better and has learned quite well how to feed the post. His pass at the rim for AJ's dunk was pretty impressive. I now think Stephens has reached his potential as he refuses to learn. How many crap shots can you take and feel like it's ok? He's either incredibly lazy or a narcissist. It's unacceptable for his 2nd year.Originally posted by TJBoiler:
I think part of Stephens problem is he is really a 6'5 swingman. Unfortunately he is 6'2. If he doesn't get better next year. Ryan Cline who is 6'4 will come in and take his place as a 3pt shooter. It does hurt because Purdue needs outside shooting and that is Stephens forte. All he needs to do to help the team is work to get a few good looks and hit a few 3's. Yet his shot selection is questionable at best.

Have to agree with most of what you say. His minutes have gone down which shows we aren't the only ones noticing.Originally posted by SwingAndSwear:
I share the frustration with Stephen's 3s early in the shot clock (btw he's not the only one guilty of that) and with some of ueber long range bombs and with many of his lazy passes (again, not the only one guilty of that). But to say that he should be benched or that the "experiment should be ended" is nuts. Without him, we most likely would have lost to PSU in the first game (or pick the another example) and not been in a position to go to the dance.
KS has to do a better job and be more disciplined. The team has to hold him accountable. Most importantly, CMP has to make it clear that not playing within the system won't be tolerated and will result in reduced minutes - having Mathias and maybe Cline will allow him to do that.
Have a great game today KS - we'll need it! Boiler Up!
