Beat it troll.
That’s your only go to cause you are bringing a knife to a gun fight. Once your boy Painter wins something that matters, you can speak. Until then, let real PU fans talk and debate the lack of success from our head coach.
Beat it troll.
I don’t disagree. But, besides Illinois those teams you’ve listed get better recruits and better talent. Izzo and Beilein are/were better at making in game and in season adjustments and their teams (more guard oriented) were better suited for March. Maybe if painter can get those types of recruits or changes his system, he may have better success. But I’d say he’s done pretty well with the system and recruits that come to Purdue. While there is some truth to your statements, every team has issues around their team and can make sane excuses. At what point will CMP be held accountable?
When you are a 1-4 seed, you can throw all the excuses out the window. When your team achieved that seed line, they are expected to perform..unless you’re Painter and PU. Why is that? If a MSU/UM/IL/OSU coach had that record, this board would call that coach a fraud.
Never said it was illegal.
How do you know adidas reps didn’t have the same convos that they did with Self?
At the bare minimum, IU had a recruit purchased by their apparel supplier, and eliminated 90% of their competition for him.
Nike doesn’t do that for Purdue. They do that for Kentucky and Duke.
Who's job is it to get better recruits?I don’t disagree. But, besides Illinois those teams you’ve listed get better recruits and better talent. Izzo and Beilein are/were better at making in game and in season adjustments and their teams (more guard oriented) were better suited for March. Reread my post. Adidas obviously funneled 5 stars to Kansas. You think they didn’t do the same with IU?I'm not sure why you don't understand how this situation unfolded. Adidas didn't care where Langford committed as long at is was A) an Adidas school B) high profile C) someplace he'd get immediate playing time and likely be a 1 and done.
iu happen to be the beneficiary geographically with the idea of "local boy makes good and signs with the home team"
Maybe the Langford family grew up iu fans and that's where he want to go anyway, but again, has his dad's AAU team been funded by Nike and not Adidas, this story probably turns out differently.
No. Adidas funnels five star high profile recruits to high profile Adidas bball schools.Reread my post. Adidas obviously funneled 5 stars to Kansas. You think they didn’t do the same with IU?
And again, what did iu do that was illegal or below board? This sounds like an Adidas issue, not an iu issue.Reread my post. Adidas obviously funneled 5 stars to Kansas. You think they didn’t do the same with IU?
Google Bill Self TJ Gassnola.No. Adidas funnels five star high profile recruits to high profile Adidas bball schools.
If the Langfords lived an hour outside of Lawrence, KS, do you think Romeo goes to iu or KU?
are you that naive to believe Archie wasn’t communicating with adidas, just like Self got caught doing ?And again, what did iu do that was illegal or below board? This sounds like an Adidas issue, not an iu issue.
Archie probably was communicating with Adidas. Was that illegal? What rule was he breaking?are you that naive to believe Archie wasn’t communicating with adidas, just like Self got caught doing ?
No one said it’s illegal. The whole point is Purdue doesn’t have a shoe company funneling top 20 players to us.Archie probably was communicating with Adidas. Was that illegal? What rule was he breaking?
Do you think Painter talks to our NIL people?
How would one go about getting a shoe company to funnel top 20 kids to a university? Asking for a friend….No one said it’s illegal. The whole point is Purdue doesn’t have a shoe company funneling top 20 players to us.
If I see Harris at the game tomorrow I’ll throw him some NIL money. Amount would depend upon how much beer money I have left. How would one go about getting a shoe company to funnel top 20 kids to a university? Asking for a friend….
Then maybe Purdue needs some local 5 star kids that live close by to have their dad coach their Aau team and approach Nike about supporting them.No one said it’s illegal. The whole point is Purdue doesn’t have a shoe company funneling top 20 players to us.
I’m just curious: what other schools are getting players funneled to them by the shoe companies, or is it only iu?No one said it’s illegal. The whole point is Purdue doesn’t have a shoe company funneling top 20 players to us.
Regarding the “create their own shot” point, I think we’ll see TKR start and play major minutes this season, for that reason. When Painter has had guys who could get their own shots (Carsen and Ivey) he has allowed them to and I think TKR gets quite a bit of freedom this season with so much defensive focus on Edey.My point was that there is a larger pattern of not being able to break through.
And, in my opinion, that stems the culture. Parts of the culture are very positive -- the tradition, the consistency/stability, the 'doing things the right way,' attitude, etc.
Parts of the culture, in my opinion, are also negative. Resistance to change/stubborness in certain areas, arguably a slightly outdated style of play, not enough emphasis on players who can create their own shot, etc.
And don't get me wrong, the "culture" is also responsible for Purdue's success. I just believe Purdue can get to the next level, but I have doubts about it doing so as long as it continues to follow the same model.
Life is Yin Yang. There is a dark and light to everything. Just my perpsective.
Google Bill Self TJ GassnolaI’m just curious: what other schools are getting players funneled to them by the shoe companies, or is it only iu?
If that’s the goal, we might want to find another shoe company. We’re not real high on Nike’s priority list…How would one go about getting a shoe company to funnel top 20 kids to a university? Asking for a friend….
How would one get on the priority list with Nike? Again, just asking for a friend…If that’s the goal, we might want to find another shoe company. We’re not real high on Nike’s priority list…
Ask Duke and Kentucky…How would one get on the priority list with Nike? Again, just asking for a friend…
Why would anyone make a bet with a welcher?I would be willing to be a lot of money that Purdue is at the top of the list when it comes to upset differential in seedings during Painters tenure.
Completely irrelevant to getting embarrassed 3 years in a row. Let’s hope he doesn’t make it 4.Not when you’ve made 4 of the last 6 sweet sixteens.
Making the sweet sixteen is never embarrassing.Completely irrelevant to getting embarrassed 3 years in a row. Let’s hope he doesn’t make it 4.
Losing to double digit seeds for three consecutive years is.Making the sweet sixteen is never embarrassing.
Making 4 out of 6 sweet sixteens doesn’t signify ineptitude.Losing to double digit seeds for three consecutive years is.
Losing to three double digit seeds as heavy favorites does.Making 4 out of 6 sweet sixteens doesn’t signify ineptitude.
Only if you don’t understand recency bias.Losing to three double digit seeds as heavy favorites does.
I understand the situation far better than you. Keep your head up painters ass, you’re safe there.Only if you don’t understand recency bias.
Quite the witty retort. I expect more from an alleged Purdue grad.I understand the situation far better than you. Keep your head up painters ass, you’re safe there.
2 out of 6. Sad!Winning 2 out of 3 does not equal “ineptitude”.
W.I.N.How would one get on the priority list with Nike? Again, just asking for a friend…
FDU clearlyI’m just curious: what other schools are getting players funneled to them by the shoe companies, or is it only iu?
It’s interesting that it is circular.this is BIG information, if so
Quite the witty retort. I expect more from an alleged Purdue grad.
Thanks, I liked it.Quite the witty retort. I expect more from an alleged Purdue grad.
I live in Georgia travel a lot for work to places like Memphis and Houston. Everyone who talks sports knows about Brees, Edey, Edwards, and Ivey. They think of Purdue as one of the best Basketball teams in the BIG (second to MSU). None of them think highly of our Football Program.I believe some posters here need to step away from Purdue for a few years. Move to a place outside of Indiana and make friends with people who are not Purdue alumni. While you believe Purdue is an awesome school and the Purdue head coaching job is an awesome job, your views are not shared by anybody who lives outside of Indiana! I’ve lived in over 12 different states from Florida to California and from Texas to Wisconsin. If you take the time to ask anybody from any other state what their perception of Purdue is they will all tell you it’s a middle of the road university in the BIG 10. Even our famous engineering school is no longer considered among the top 5! Ask anybody in Carolina to name some top basketball programs! Purdue is not a name that comes up. Ask someone in Texas their opinion of Purdue and they will say it’s a good school, but they won’t say it’s awesome. Ask anybody outside Indiana who they believe the top coach in the BIG 10 is and the name Painter won’t be mentioned! Ask anybody outside of Indiana if they could even name a Purdue all American and I doubt they remember who Swanigan or ivey or Edey is. Purdue does a very bad job of marketing their players, coach, team and university! Everybody outside Indiana will say Izzo, msu, OSU, and Michigan regardless of year and regardless of record. And Purdue is 4th -6th best team. If you don’t believe me, next time you take a vacation outside of Indiana ask 5 people young and old what they think are the top 5 basketball schools in the Big 10 and if they can name one basketball player from Purdue . I believe you will be saddened by their replies! People remember Bobby Knight! Nobody outside Indiana remembers Gene Keady. It’s similar for Drew Brees. Ask anybody to name the top 5 QBs of all time. The replies will not include Breese
Since 2016 I’ve lived in Big12 country (OKC) and the sentiment here is pretty much what you described.I live in Georgia travel a lot for work to places like Memphis and Houston. Everyone who talks sports knows about Brees, Edey, Edwards, and Ivey. They think of Purdue as one of the best Basketball teams in the BIG (second to MSU). None of them think highly of our Football Program.
