OT: Purdue loses a pioneer

He finished his BS the year I got to Purdue. I used a lot of Linux distos while getting my CS degree, Debian included. Big loss to the open source community.

Going from a green screen to a Sun workstation felt like advancing 25 years in computing overnight.
As a Debian fan, I most certainly marked his passing this week, but I'd forgotten that he was a Boiler. Thank you for that. Also, that's not only a great article on Ian, but on the origins of the free software movement and Linux to boot..
