Once you’re setting for midrange jumpers and floaters you’re already losing to the Knicks if you’re that pacers team. And remember.. that’s back when you couldn’t go small. Teams would just kill you down low.
Athleticism is hard to compare from highlight clips but both are/were complete freaks. That said Giannis is better right now than Shawn ever was. It's not that close.

He looks better cause you can’t touch him. If Dennis Rodman was all over him and the refs didn’t wanna hear it it would be a different story. Just like If teams were running to currys back shoulder .. funnel to the paint, funnel to the paint .. his lack of explosiveness would be exposed.
now, giannis will go down in the books as better because Shawn kemp flushed things down the drain. He’s not better than Kevin Garnett .. kG was just past his prime when the fabricate-a-legend rules came into play..
Well the OP was about Kemp/Giannis I'm not sure why you're jumping to Steph and KG but I maintain with or without the physical play Giannis is far better that Kemp, far more consistent, a better teammate, and just a better all around person.
I think in physical play Giannis might just be fabulous at that too but we aren't given that venue to watch how he adapts to constant battering. By all accounts, sports today are better than yesterday and yesterday was better than the generation before. They shoot better, they're quicker, stronger and faster. Looking at some of the post below I find it amusing that many here are making judgements based on the highlight clips from before they were born. Shawn Kemp competed against some of the slowest and weakest that wouldn't sniff an NBA court today.

Well yeah career consistency and character for sure .. because kemp went off the ledge. But in his prime very little separation.

those players were in the league because you could grab, hold and get physical. Players like kemp were the victim of those players .. because like isiah said you were in an era where once you were fouled…you could be hit again by someone else and not have any additional consequences… oh but I know.. you’re probably the guy who thinks guys today would get knocked down 15 times and be fine. Kevin Johnson didn’t have that take a toll on his body. He just decided to suck right?
it was easier to be in the league as a good back then and the non goons payed the price …which is why cliff robinson was 6’10” with great athleticism and backed up two lesser athletes who were 6’8”.
Sam Perkins would be better today, Charles Oakley wouldn’t survive in the league. Hall of famer Ben Wallace would be average today.
conversely, bigger players today and better combinations of strength and explosiveness would be better and guys who are athletic but don’t want the contact would be worse.
He’s not on the Pacers. And besides, he could still pull up from 30 after running Harper or Starks into Draymond.
