OT - Biggest Concert Regret

Anybody else vote for Mackey as one of the worst venues anywhere? Saw the Association there in 69 or 70. Great basketball acoustics but absolutely the worst for music.

The Boss on The River tour at ND, Nov '80. Was 15, had it all worked out with 2 of my sisters at ND. They had even sold my parents on me taking the South Shore to SB. Unfortunately, I tore ligaments in my ankle a week before in frosh hoops and couldn't attend. Took me almost 4 years more to see him at the Rosemont Horizon (Allstate Arena) in July '84 on Born in the USA.

Best surprise of a concert? Went to REM at IU Auditorium Nov '85. Was just getting on the REM train when the opening act was 10,000 Maniacs, with Natalie Merchant. Hadn't heard of them at all at that point. Wow!!! Blown away by both acts. Fan ever since.

I also missed the original River tour.Had tickets for Frankfurt (Germany),but my stupid car broke down on post about 40 miles away where I was teaching a class and I ended up sleeping in my car up by the UP shack.Didn't make the same mistake twice,as I saw the Frankfurt show on the BITUSA tour in '85...

As you might know by my screen name I'm a huge Springsteen fan, having seen 20+ shows in this century alone.Saw 2 shows on the 2016 River tour-Louisville and Detroit.

In Louisville we had GA and I ended up standing between a couple from Zionsville who were Purdue alums, and a Carmel couple who had attended ND.Strangely enough both guys were in Med Sales and knew some of the same people, though they just met at the show.

Not only had these 30 something couples been to multiple shows all over the US,but their kids had been to several shows as well.Imagine IU,Purdue and ND fans all getting along and having a fantastic time, while dealing with thousands of UK,UL and OSU fans as well. The Magic of Bruce/ESB Nation...

Then I went to Auburn Hills last April,2 nights before my 61st Birthday and had seats among UM and MSU fans as well as a ton of Canadians and folks from the upper reaches of the B1G.Harbaugh tweeted a pic of himself sitting at Max's drumstand prior to the show, and during 10th Ave a legendary Detroit rocker miraculously appeared on stage and greeted Bruce as he returned from his journey thru the crowd.

I've seen all the "greats" over the years, but I don't even go to see anyone else any more.Because when I do it's hard not to hold them to the standards of an ESB show.Someone just standing on stage and playing hits doesn't do it for me any more.

I love watching the ESB,because you know that they LOVE what they do,and their purpose that night is to give you the most memorable concert experience of your life.
No show is the same, and after every 3-4 hr show I leave exhilarated, physically drained, and amazed yet again by the brilliance that is Springsteen...

I saw Cornell at the Murat and White River in the past year. So glad I made both shows. RIP Chris Cornell

Still waiting for someone to find me Jimmy Buffett poster or ad from when he played at Elliott in '83.
I've got $ to spend if someone can find it.

For me Led Zeppelin, seen Page play with the Firm and saw Plant by himself but never together.

The Badlees out of Pennsylvania is another one of my regrets. I was fortunate to see most of the classic rock bands in my life, many several times over. Would still like to see the Peppers sometime.

Mine was the Monsters of rock concert that came through Germany when I was stationed there.

My regret isnt because it was bad, I just missed it because of....uhhh... "Special brownies"

Peter was before my discovery. By Bare Trees and Mystery to Me he was gone.
Kiln House is pretty good early album by them.
