Why would you tell the people that are pro-Painter that Crean could be our coach? Your title is confusing. Also I'm not strongly on either side of the fence, but this post makes no logical sense. How could Crean be our coach? By that same logic Roy Williams, Coach K, or Jay Wright could be our coach.
Well seeing as how Crean's tournament record looks elite compared to Painter's, do you really wanna go there. And i by no means think Crean is a great coach, but to think Painter is heads and shoulders above him is laughable. But hey be happy you have your mediocre coach over ours.
It took a Crean fan to post on a Purdue forum about how great Two Tone Tommy is.

Crean is elite indeed. He is in a class by himself in many ways. No other coach is so universally loathed/disrespected within his chosen profession. No other coach exhibits the behavior of a highly-caffeinated baboon with trouser issues stomping along the sidelines. No other college coach in the history of the state of Indiana has alienated so many high school coaches. And no other coach has walked out of a Bloomington Kinko's with a placard that reads "CALL OUT SCREENS."
Without question, Crean is without peer and Painter will never reach his level.
Was Crean ever a serious candidate for the Purdue job? If so, that's news to me.
I'm as surprised as anybody about how the losses have piled up for Indiana this year, but so have the injuries.
Injuries are never an excuse, of course, but any team is going to take a hit with 2 (or is it 3) starters on the bench..

Now wait a minute, that wasn't the criteria back when Gene was piling up B1G titles. The refrain back then was that only March matters. Have the standards been lowered, or are you just in an argumentative mood?

You can't hide from the fact that he took the most talented team the B1G has seen in several years, dominated the season nationally and got blown out in the Sweet 16.

Crean could win the next ten Big Ten championships outright and a few NCs thrown in and I still wouldn't want him as head basketball coach of Purdue University. He is clearly insane, a walking Internet meme, and a punchline.
Didn't see the game but caught his post game comment with Bardo on the court and he was talking through the camera to OG...just weird! He reminds me of that friend we all had growing up that was a total dork but tried to act cool, and he was the only one that didn't know he sounded totally fake. I could never imagine painter or any of the other B10 coaches talking like that. I don't get why kids and parents agree to play for him. Very odd person, and he needs to lay off the caffeine before his head explodes.
The losses were happening prior to the injuries. They are just continuing now.
