dont understand the love for the md student section. the students behind the announcers make it look more exciting than it really is. the place is whisper quiet for the majority of the game. other than calling haas ugly they didnt seem too organized. start of the game was pretty bad. biggie was off, shot selection was bad, and it took carsen edwards to rescue us. we helped too much on trimble and allowed some easy looks when he passed off. it felt like a victory going into the half only down 2. second half started like the first. pretty miserable basketball. we got down big and a blowout felt inevitable. md missed some good looks and then cline flew out bounds while draining a 3. crowd died and new ballgame. biggie got on track and hit some absolutely monster momemtum killing 3s. 5 minutes left there was finally some tension in the air as the battle heightened and haas got a tech. i had no problem with it and i think it focused him for his late game free throws. loved carsen having the ball at the end though felt lucky to get that whistle, not that it wasnt a foul but we have seen that go uncalled before at the end of games. mr shy sinks both and life is good. and then the most bs travel call and giving them the ball under the basket. wtf...maybe someone can explain that it was confusing at the game. in the end i felt like md lost the game more than we won it. not a great game on either end but somehow we survived and i drank many celebritory beers. boiler up!

I had to catch the game on the radio. Cliz and Co. were going nuts over the officiating in the 2nd half. What did it look like on TV?

So I re-watched the last few seconds and the travel call on Haas and he didn't appear to move his pivot foot so the call was complete BS. However, in a situation like that just stand still until the horn sounds as there is no real reason to move with so little time left.

That win also I think gave us a glimpse of the future (no I'm not giving up on this season at all) but CE is the real deal and CMP gets some credit for snagging him.

One thing is for certain, the B1G has the worst and most inconsistent officials I have seen in a long time.

I'm still trying to figure out the reasoning for putting 0.5 secs back on the clock.
The official blew his whistle after the clock read 0.0. Game over.
At best, it should be 0.1 or 0.2 secs put back.
If we had lost that way....

In addition to your CE comment, kudos on the development of guys like Dakota Mathias. That's pure coaching and getting guys who want to be coached. I don't need to get into a debate over recruiting, but it's always nice to see players develop over their time - which you don't always see at some other programs with ritzy recruits.

There is something fun and uniquely endearing about watching players improve as boilermakers.
