Nice effort by everyone...especially J. Taylor

Gonzaga was up 40-10 on St. Joe's, a Divions 1 team last year. You learn literally nothing from playing an NAIA team. The regular season is where the elite separate. Just be happy Purdue didn't have any injuries. Gonzaga wasn't so lucky in their exhibition this year.

Taylor's ceiling might be the highest on the team. Dennis Rodman skills. Hopefully he flashes some of that this year.

You know it!

Why did you not like the skillz J. Taylor showed last night?

He will be a solid 4 year guy and play hard and be a true Boilermaker!

Absolutely need guys like him to develop over four years and be contributors as upperclassmen. You'll get no complaints from me if that's what happens. That's one thing that wasn't happening that led to our slump the past couple of years. Players weren't working hard enough to make themselves better each year and when they didn't see the floor they would often just quit/leave. A program like ours can not sustain that if it happens consistently.

Nice kid seemingly, and definitely plays hard and with energy...but "skillz" are lacking to say the least. He is a far better athlete than somebody like Reid, and because of that in conjunction with his size, he has a chance to see some minutes later in his career if he does indeed develop and improve.

Biggie got tied up on a pretty open layup by a 6'4" guy. I think my assessment of him playing below the rim was accurate. He can do a little bit of everything very good, which is impressive. But again, keep your expectations for scoring realistic.

Jacquil is very solid. He made several plays and the negative things could easily be tied to rust.

Nice play and effort from J. Taylor.......

He is an all effort guy and can play at both ends well.

Looking forward to watching him develop.....

Boiler Up!

Lol I'm remember the days of Chris the big East Reid posts by you Chevy. Thankfully Taylor is actually a D1 basketball talent. Looking forward to seeing him develop. 4 more years of him is some serious icing right now

Taylor will be good someday....I do not doubt that. Right now though, he reminds me of Ryne Smith as a frosh.....he showed energy and productivity/minute on the offensive end, but to the Ryne comparison....his D out there was as bad as it gets.

I posted last season a few times that I hoped MP used taylor the same way CoachK used Jefferson on defense and in back court traps. Jefferson was like a one man press. Both are extremely similar builds, height, and style of play. If he turns out to be that type of player we will have gotten a steal.
