NET is out

First NET rankings are out.. currently have Purdue at 21st and 6th in the Big Ten. Looks like we have some work to do.

Eh, we have played some close games and the computer likes it when you blow teams out. Example, Purdue’s son, Tennessee, hasn’t really played anyone—they beat an overrated Baylor team and did beat a good Louisville team. But the rest are cupcakes and they are #1. Lots of ball left to play and not too worried about our NET.

If I were those guys down south though…at 71….id be a bit worried

The NET isn’t really a ranking system per se. it’s used more to determine quads for games played.
Having said that, I think our number will rise as we play the next two weeks and into conference season.

Where WE are in the NET is far less important to where our opponents are. It's a sorting tool to help with SOS for the committee. Yeah, the best teams will logically end up near the top of the list, but the important thing is to look at our record against each Quad. The more Q1 games and wins we end up with, the better.

To put it in another perspective, could anyone actually SEED Purdue behind UCLA right now? Hells to the no. UCLA is 5-1, with zero Q1 GAMES, and a loss in their only Q2 game. Yet they're 16 and Purdue is 21. That tells you all you need to know about what the NET means.
