Today could be the best thing to prep them for a run in the NCAA.. The team gets knocked down off their high horse a bit. They will now realize they will have to bust their a$$es to win and nothing is going to be given to them just because they won the B1G.. They'll also have extra time to rest and work on deficiencies..
So, we can still hope for the best, but it is worrying considering the history of Purdue basketball..

This team has a knack of going on win streaks after a loss.
Michigan has our number, and we won't see them in the tourney. Moving on.

The NCAAT only matters when we win. When we lose suddenly that is the most important game ever.
I have read from both Coach K and Rick Pitino the most important thing going into the NCAA is fresh legs. I did not want to lose today, but I can honestly say I didn't want to see us play 3 days in a row then play an early game Thurs. Brad Miller had a good Tweet...."Go home and rest and get ready for the one that matters." He would know. I don't think we have looked sharp the past 2 weeks at all. All that being said, this is where Painter needs to hit the mental and physical reset button with these guys and get them fresh for next week. I think good coaches and good teams have no trouble losing in conference tournaments. Next week will tell the story.

This. I thought we would lose to this team that is just a bad matchup for us, and just hope they are not in our bracket.
Who was the last non-Michigan team we lost to? Nebraska?
Why is it always a bad matchup... maybe a good coach could figure out how to you know adjust and matchup a lot better. We have an extremely talented group of guys this year, way more so than michigan.
Neither Haas or Biggie can guard ANYONE in their lineup. No amount of adjustments will fix that.
We haven't lost to anyone but Michigan since January 29th.

And in spite of that fact, if we had hit at least half our free throws we win the game.
it's not the fact we lost that upsets or worries me. it's the way we lost. and it was too familiar with how we keep losing in he NCAA tourney no matter who we play. We have a lead. All we need to do is hit free throws in the closing minutes and we CHOKE ! Our 80% Ft shooters can't buy a Ft when it matters most. seen the pattern, and also the outcome too many times. I was hoping we'd win and have a chance to boost our ratings enough to grab a 3 seed at Indianapolis. and come away with a sweet 16 birth. Now, we're going to get a 5-7 seed and be shipped out on the road, and have some tough / unusual match-ups.
