Panel approves changes to overtime rules in football
The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel on Thursday approved a change to overtime rules for the 2021 football season.

- Big OT changes: Starting in the second OT after a TD you have to go for 2. Starting in the third OT both teams alternate 2pt attempts until there is a winner. IMO this over-complicates the rules for casual watchers, and triple OT games or more are super rare anyway.
- Team area is expanded to 20 yard line to 20 yard line. It was expanded to 15-to-15 for COVID but will now be permanently expanded from the original 25-to-25. (Low key notable change for marching bands.)
- Video board operators and lighting crew can now be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. I imagine this would be like if Purdue tried to do something way overly distracting with the massive video board?
- Schools can request post-game reviews of players faking injuries. No idea what the fallout from that would be.
- Coaches will be flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for leaving the team area to argue with a ref. This might hit Brohm in the upcoming season, lol.
- Taunting.
- "Significantly in violation of uniform rules" "specifically the pants, jerseys and T-shirts that extend below the torso". Who cares.
