Names to consider for our next football coach?

Dienhart was on local radio today with a bit of info. Said Odom was at MZou the same time as WVUs AD and anticipates their relationship might have him going to WV.
Tom also said Bobo wanted all this done by Monday.

Go to Matt Campbell and tell him to name his price.

Do not call Jeff Monken. Coming from Army, where you don't recruit, don't deal with NIL, don't put guys in the pros and doesn't have 15-20 guys on his current roster who could help Purdue. Coming to a program like Purdue where all those things are critically important, would lead to another disaster.

I agree with this. He's a good coach, but he won't be able to give the program an immediate boost.

I couldn't agree more on Monken. He should not be considered at all. For all of the reasons you listed, plus the triuple option. I mean lol. No shot.

The way it’s looking whoever gets the job will need to bring a QB with him unless Purdue portal QBs decide to come back.

Agreed, definitely makes Chadwell appealing. I actually was scrolling through the portal and saw Davila was in before I saw the article, but thought it was funny that a few players down the list was....Brady Allen

Yeah, tough seeing Helton get Waltered there, but isn't this kind of a surprise year for WKU anyway? Thought I read they lost there QB some time ago and were starting a walkon.

Who cares? Hope lost his RB1, WR2, & played 437 quarterbacks one season due to injuries; How much slack did he get..?

I did not read all of these comments, but I will still stand firm on my choice… Jamey Chadwell from liberty.
1 a ) Chadwell

1 b ) Sumrall , this guy is a really good coach, don't judge on last 2 games

1 c ) Traylor , good coach w/ a pipeline to players in Tejas

Good list.
1A ) Silverfield / Chadwell

It’s a total crab shoot with no rumors swirly around yet but I’d be extremely happy with the ones I listed or even Sumrall.
Hoping the next hire can light a fire into the program and get this turned around!

Yes, I believe he would be an awesome hire!!
His teams can put up points. I believe his QB finished top 10 in passing yards and the RB rushed for 1300yds.
He has a 4* qb signed as well. But this guy seems to not even be a candidate for us. This board is the only place I see him mentioned.

Yes I haven’t seen his name as a candidate either much so who knows but does anyone really know anything other than guessing?? No one saw Walters as a candidate either so a man can dream for Silverfield right ? 😂

as you guys know, Silverfield is my choice but didn't include him on my updated list due to not seeing his name on any list lately

I didn't put much thought to Silverfield because I considered him a beneficiary of Norvell establishing a good program, but I just looked into him a little more and I'm becoming a big fan. I've preferred Sumrall or Chadwell for awhile, but I can't handle losing another coach to a Kentucky school (Sumrall) and Chadwell is a Tenessee native. Imagine if Chadwell does well at Purdue and UT begins to struggle, fires Heupel down the road, and then we lose him to UT lol. This could be the first time we lose to UT in a decade (this is also extremely hypothetical).

Of the common candidates we've seen, Silverfield probably has one of the better collections of players he can bring over, has solid recruiting classes, and may understand NIL the best. Silverfield should come a little cheaper than Chadwell too, but that shouldn't be the basis of a decision. I would think if Silverfield or Chadwell were the choice, they would have announced it already so they could start dealing with recruiting/transfer portal.

Local rumors (sorry that’s all I got) say Bobinski has his guy - just waiting to schedule the presser.
We shall see…
If that's true it means someone who isn't in a conference championship game. Some names in that group:

Ryan Silverfield (Memphis) still my #1

Jason Crandle (Toledo) Toledo has produced quality high-major coaches (Gary Pinkel, Matt Campbell) but also Tim Beckman, who was Haze-like at Illinois. Fortunately, Crandle is a more established head coach than Beckman was.

Dave Clawson (Wake Forest) He was a hot commodity two years ago but went 4-8 in 2023 and 2024. Still, anybody who takes WF to seven consecutive bowl games is worthy of consideration.

Chip Kelly (Ohio State) Please no. This reeks of Fred Akers. And, the last guy to come to Purdue directly from yhe OSU staff: Jim Colletto.

The relevant conference title games are over.

Ol Tommy over at GBI says a sitting P4 coach told him it’s Monken. But then made a cryptic statement about someone that hasn’t been talked about at all. And the talked about major network analysts and a former long time ACC DC saying this job is terrible and no one should take it lol

So of the rumored coaches this weekend…

WKU. Blown out
Tulane. Blown out
Miami Oh. Blown out

So not so sure of any of these guys - that said, seems like Tiller lost his last game at Wyoming.

Liking the OU guy (Albin) after today. They look strong.
