All meaningless early rankings BS with not enough data. By mid Dec things get clearer.

We probably find out Purdue ranked a little too high.

For example with Creighton we will find out soon enough with games vs powerhouse NE(🤣), TexA&M, Kansas and then AL. They are pretty good. If they handle that they become #1. Lose to KS, probably still stay top 5.

Agree that it’s pretty meaningless but it gives fans something to talk about.

We’ll find out tonight if Purdue is ranked too high. I think this team is legitimately top 15 at this point and is likely to continue to improve, but if they win on the road tonight they would show that they may be much better than that.

I too think they might be a little too high. I’m still concerned about TOs and soft rebounding. Later in the season we might look back at the Alabama game and say thats the best they’ve played all year.

I don't think they are ranked too high, even if they lose tonight. Losing to a Top 20 Marquette on road isn't some awful loss unless it's a Gonzaga-Baylor result. I think Purdue fans are maybe trying to get used to having their point guard be the best player again after having Edey around. Smith isn't Carsen Edwards(from a scoring standpoint) but he can control a game enough to make Purdue a Top 10 team.

I generally agree. I think the question is whether they are a legitimate top-five-ish team with staying power. If they win tonight, they will look the part.

A wi tonight would be big. I think there is a good amount of parity at the top. I personally think Kansas is above everyone(not that they won't lose). But there will some shifting amongst teams along the year. Purdue might be a legitimate Top 15 team but at some point may drop to 15 and then go back into the Top 10. As weird as it sounds, there are probably 15ish "Top 10" teams this season.

Defense and rebounding haven't been top 5 team. Offense has at times. 10ish now is awfully good considering what we lost.

Seems like a pretty good list. I think Purdue's placement is about right, although I expect that they'll be a bit higher in the actual poll. I think Wisky is high, but understand that they're 7-0.

You not having UConn and the Baby in the top 25 is surprising, especially after their nearly 100 point win over some community college. JK. I do see Purdue jumping back into the top 10, fwiw.

Maybe right now.......Futuristically speaking........sure hope so. The next 5 make that a tough ask. Not impossible for sure. But imo not likely.
I was referring to this week’s poll, released today. I agree that the next 5 games will be difficult thus probably dropping out afterwards.

I almost put Purdue at 10, but Florida has been super impressive as well and are 8-0. Oregon also kept Purdue out but they've also been super impressive to begin the year. There were A LOT of changes. And yea, I definitely dropped UConn out. The AP will refuse to, but they don't deserve to be in right now. UCon , UNC, Houston, Indiana, Creighton all have a lot to prove going forward.

Still in wait and see mode of Florida. Their best win to date is over a mediocre Florida State team currently sitting #58 at KenPom.

It is more of an eye test with Florida. Though the first NET rankings just came out and they are 6th. So they have something going right. Like beating the brakes off everyone.
I think 11th is about right. It may be dumb to say because it's so obvious, but the next four games will tell us a lot about where Purdue sits right now. If they go 4-0 (I don't see that happening), they're a top-five team. Top ten if they go 3-1 and given their schedule I still think they're top 15 if they go 2-2. I don't see them going 1-3 but if they do I'd imagine they're out of the top 25.
