Always been a fan of Matt but I am officially done. So much talent on this team and he still can blow it. He should be a player development coach not a head coach. He does not know how to run a rotation. He plays everyone even if they are struggling never cuts a guy out for a night. Never have I seen him be able to adjust his game plan offensively when the team was struggling. We can't even inbound the basketball. That is so simple.. If you look at his years without Jajuan and Etwaun it is extremely uninspiring. I just don't believe Purdue will ever be a real contender with Painter.

Hard to argue with those points after tonight performance............blown out by the ILLINI.....Starting five should all be benched for the start of next game. Pathetic performance! They should all be embarrassed!
Where is the talent? We've got a 4 year project center, shooting guards who can't hit the broad side of a barn, no point guard and a freshman all american who averages 30 turnovers a game.
We have a McDonalds All American, probably the best center in the B1G and the defensive player of the year. He also recruited them, so if your not happy with who we have, that's on him also.
Guarantee he will blame this loss on effort. Change up defense down 15 with 4 left. Great job coach!
No doubt about it.............when we look bad, we really stink up the joint! Good talent, but once again(just like last year) where is the consistency? No way we finish in the top four of the CONF...........looking like fifth or sixth place!
No, he'll blame it on shooting too quick, before looking inside! Poor shot selction! Most observers say Ryan Cline was the best shooter from Indiana since Rick Mount, but 6 months under Paintball and the kid can't make FTs! Where have we seen this before?! How is it that opponents make our two 7-footers into a liability for us?! How many undersized, mediocre centers have outplayed both our 7-footers?!

Well he would be right but he would also need to adjust to get the kids to play with effort or get them to play with effort from the start. It starts with him!
Im trying to figure some peeps out on this board. The same people that kill DH after yr 3 but praise Painter during his 11th yr or get mad if you have criticism about his coaching.
I agree. I think Kendall plays so hard and sure he makes some mistakes but he is always engaged. He always is looking to feed the post and usually makes a solid pass in there. This kid needs more than 15 minutes a night. Also I think Basil redshirting was a huge mistake. If he off came of the bench tonight and brought his energy he could of completely fueled this team and changed the games outcome.
Unfortunately, Ronnie wasn't completely wrong. I think our guys are so focused on defense, and so afraid to be caught not looking into the post, that they can't play loose on the offensive end. How many guys come here as scorers, only to end up looking lost on that side of the ball?
So spot on. I was all for Hope, and saw no reason to get rid of him. Why were we so eager after he led us to bowl games in years 3 and 4? Painter has a few solid years after landing an amazing class in 2007 and has done little else. Yet here we are in year 11 with a co-B1G championship and 2 sweet 16's to our name and most are happy with CMP, who is getting paid near the top of the league while Hope was getting paid at the bottom. Don't try to rationalize with most on here, it will just drive you crazy.
When Painter recruits the faux next amazing talent, he's a phenom. So, wait for next year ad nauseum. When we beat an inferior team, he's a genius. When we get demoralized, it's the players fault. LOL. Heap praise on Painter for ANYTHING positive and demonize the players for ANYTHING negative. That the "Purdue Way". LOL.

So, don't you think tonight is a small sample? I was pointing out the ridiculousness of the concept that has been pervasive in the last several years on this board. The constant excuses. I think common sense is beginning to take root and folks are seeing things for what they are. I was just being facetious. LOL
We cannot even pass the ball correctly to the centers. Our guards are scared and we have too many players standing around watching. Caleb needs to be in for 3 minute at a time. He is so out of shape that he jogged down the court several times on Illinois fast breaks. We have the best center in the big ten and he only took 5 shots and played 22 minutes and he was not in foul trouble.
