Luke Brown

You'd just get another name. Here's the deal...you don't like my posts...hit ignore.
That would keep me from seeing all the IU threads you start, but I think I’ll just continue to point out your dumb posts instead. We will find out soon enough that P5 coaches don’t think Brown is good enough though. See ya!

Purdue just signed a kid from a 2A school who a lot of folks are really excited about. That same school plays some pretty weak competition. So are you now saying that Furst isn't good enough? Just saying.
They’ve also played some really good competition.. look at their schedule.

You may be familiar with Blackford, but you evidently don't know much about Ft Wayne basketball. Blackhawk plays a tough schedule. Not any where close to a normal 2A schedule.

I believe they beat Luers who just won the SAC

Yes. Very good schedule. Nothing like the other 2A schools in the area. Of course they aren't like any other 2A school in the area!!
I'm familiar with them. They play that schedule because they have the players who would normally be playing at those other schools. Like Chatard, Luers, and a lot of others who can recruit.

You said they play a weak schedule. That simply isn't true. That is what a couple of us were pointing out.

They play a decent schedule. But they also play teams like Elkhart Christian, Adams Central, Woodlan, and Lakewood Park. Don't get me wrong, I think Furst is the ideal Painter player and I'm glad he's a Boiler. But this whole thing started about Luke Brown....who honestly I hope comes to West Laffy with Furst.

Every team has duds on their schedule. I know you've been going back and forth with Kyle and you were trying to make a point in favor of Brown. I get it. But using Blackhawks schedule as an example was not right. Their schedule/competition is nothing like what Brown plays against. I'm staying out of the Brown to PU conversation. Just want to make sure that those not familiar with the Fort's basketball, understand Furst plays against good players regularly.

Dry, all schools play duds as you stated. There's a certain individual who has gone out of his way to be argumentative about Luke Brown, who I believe we all should be hoping becomes a Boiler. Peace.

Dude they are a 1A school already playing up in 2A. As for recruiting , how exactly did Brown ( a Brownsburg kid) end up at Blackford ? And the majority of Blackford’s schedule is duds. Only 3 3A schools and smoked by 2 of em. Blackhawk 12-2 vs 4A. Not a lot of duds on that schedule. That doesn’t even include Luers. Kid wouldn’t be averaging 32pts and 8 assist if he was playing at a 4a school playing 4A teams.

We don't know what he'd be doing at a 4A do we? With a better cast around him, he'd probably be better.

Nope , because he left and decided he didn't want to compete against the Big Boys. Kind of tired of talking about a kid that doesn’t have and probably never will have an offer from Purdue. Very odd that you come back and bring up this topic again that very few care about as the Boilers get a huge win tonight. Boiler Up !!

You know, I'd quit this thread....busy watching PU win against Iowa. You brought it back up dude.

One name for you Desmond bane College coaches thought the same thing but one. Not that I want the kid we're talking about because I don't but never say never

Purdue is only ever going to play 5 guards.

In 2021 Purdue will have 6 returning guards (assuming no one transfers). Purdue will have 4 guards back for 2022. Purdue only needs to recruit one or two guards combined in 2021 and 2022. Is this the guy who is going to come in and take minutes from Sr Sasha, Sr Hunter, So Newman, So Ivey, So Morton and Jr IT?

I would guess he's thinking the same thing.

I think Purdue should be very selective in 2021 and if they don't get someone who can come in and steal minutes from the guys mentioned above, they should focus on 2022 at the guard position.

If he comes to Purdue, because of our extremely limited scholie situation......it will be in the Luce mode and he would be the hero of Mackey....all beit slightly different as that team has high FF probabilities. So being that team's hero has a slightly more attractive draw.
He's a lot better than Luce, he's a mid major kid, a place like Valpo would be a good spot for him.

You say "most believe he will be at a P5 School". Who are these people? Clearly they are not P5 coaches or recruiting analysts as all of those people agree he will be low major to mid major. Again, if "most" agree he will go P5, where are his P5 offers? He isn't even ranked by recruiting services. Cooper Neese 2.0.
Mid major kid, nothing wrong with that, as for Purdue, if he wants to walk on I would take him in a minute.

You've bought into the hype from his family and friends (maybe you are family). He doesn't have any P5 offers for a reason. I'd be willing to ban bet you that he doesn't end up at a P5 school. He just isn't big/good enough.

I endorse the "ban" proposal. At this point, Kyle is a 3:2 favorite over Twin. Place your bets folks, place your bets!

Over Kristian Lander a 5 Star Recruit? lol
LOL- that’s what the guy on Twitter said.

But yes, let’s disregard the opinion of a kid who has actually played with or against both of them, whose mom was an Indiana All Star, whose dad played pro ball in Italy for over a decade, and whose grandfather was a respected Indiana high school basketball coach for decades.

My Dad was with Patton in Europe in WWII and I'm not considered an expert on military strategy.

I don't have a dog in the fight over Brown. I've seen him play twice in person over the last two seasons. He's a fabulous shooter with terrific range. Great ball handler, good passer, and overall a great story. What he's done for that school and community is worth far more than anything he could have done at another school.

That said, I do question how successful he would be in college at the power 5 level as he's so ball dominant. He doesn't have the athleticism for that style to translate to that level. His penetration skills also seemed to have regressed, but I only saw him one game this year.

I wish him well though.

I haven't seen him, but wasn't that game where Tayson went off for around 50?
edited...that was Tipton.

I suppose next you're going to tell me the family slept at Holiday Inn Express. I'm sending a bit of your Spegalism seeping into this discussion.
Look – I’ve never seen brown play or even seen video of him. All I am saying is you have a kid who is the progeny of two Division I scholarship basketball players, made the Indiana Junior All Stars, and spent half his life in Italy around professional basketball players. I will take his evaluation over Brian Snow’s any day of the week.

I'm sure the kid is good and all, but if you have a chance to get Ingram or player of that caliber, end of story... you take Ingram.

Why do some posters on here have to constantly be so snarky back and forth. Everyone has a right to an opinion. Why did you have to put him down for his?
TD definitely has a right to think Brown is good enough to go P5. I have a right to think he's crazy LOL.

Bob King once told me that there were players who might not be tall enough, quick enough, etc. that you don’t recruit. However, they go somewhere else and beat you. Our discussion centered around a kid named Krivacs who went to Southport. He had a pretty good career at Texas.

Wow, blast from the past. I went to Southport and watch Jim Krivacs when I was a kid. Joe Brunk may have been a teammate back then; good players and teams. I always wondered how Krivacs got out of the Big10.
