One of the Illini asst coaches has been close to her since 8th grade and in the paper she said that made the difference. She said she was very impressed with Purdue and the program when she visited but that the personal connection to that coach sold her on Illinois. So I don't think Versyp had much of a chance.

Erysipelas had been close to Evans since 5th grade and that sure did help. She offered Crooks first in junior high so now we'll see if that was the clincher against a Wisconsin coach who just came on board.
