Purdue's search for a consistent confident point guard might lead it to ...

Andreona Keys.

The power forward — the senior wing has only been starting there because of the Boilermakers' lack of front-court options — might move to the point vs. Valparaiso on Friday night, says Coach Sharon Versyp. Purdue is looking for more steady play there, after they've seen inconsistent performances from freshman Karissa McLaughlin and sophomore Tiara Murphy.

"She's played the point before," Versyp said. "... I think she can give us that confidence boost. She's handled the ball in many different situations over the years."

That move would significantly flip Purdue's lineup, likely with Tam Farquhar moving in at the 4. Wing Lamina Cooper could play some point, but McLaughlin and Murphy will continue to get chances there, as well.

But whoever the No. 1, Purdue has some needs there, Versyp says.

"Confidence, great communication, to be able to get everybody organized," Versyp said. "Last year, we had Ashley (Morrisette) out there at the point guard, everybody was confident, nobody worried about anything. That's what we've got to be able to bring to the table, so we don't start out hesitant or with doubt and we start out sharp with positive energy. We've had that some games and some games we haven't but we've got to be consistent there."

They only have like 6 point guards and now Keys is a PG also? #Goodgrief

What amazes me is that it took SV 4 years to develop Morrisette into a very good point. Seems like she gets someone like that with a lot of athleticism and slows their development to a crawl. Time for a change.
