Watching the KU/Ark game, KU threw a zone at Ark while down 10. Ark started chucking 3's and it allowed KU to get right back in the game.
The announcers mentioned that KU rarely played zone (if I recall, only for a total of 7 possessions all year).
Would Painter dare?????

Yeah that was kinda crazy.

And no painter would not 😂

How’d that work out for them?!?!?

Sorry, had to dunk on this take
Well Adams tore his Achilles during their comeback and they even were ahead—I think they would have held on for the win had this not happened. Sad day for him… and then …Dickinson played like Dickinson and they lost 😂

1) He has before.
2) It's not needed
3) The defense has "elements" of zone in it already
4) You must be bored because this topic has been beaten down to death

we were excellent on the boards yesterday but struggled. A LOT during the season. I can’t imagine we’d be able to get many rebounds if we played zone. KU struggled to rebound out of the zone too.

Well, when they threw the zone at Ark, KU was down 10. Less than 3 minutes later, it was tied. So yeh, I think it worked out pretty well.
I like when coaches change up things just to add a wrinkle but when playing a zone a team is more prone to give up rebounds which is one of our weaknesses

If they let Flory play more instead of Dickinson, he would have done great.

Dickinson cashed his last check at First National Bank.....maybe Kansas should have thought about overdraft protection. Still should take $elf to lunch for the departure arrangement, though. I'll have a root beer, darlin.

I live 40 mins away from Lewisburg, Pa. ( Bucknell) seen him play occasionally and he is pretty good
PaBoiler….go recruit him then!!!!! 😂 😂

Paint needs you!

But in all seriousness, seeing his athleticism and how hard he dunks. And can hit the 3…and had 30+ blocks…I’m sold. He doesn’t even need to do all that next year. Just be a threat and a big piece for the team. Having him and Jacobsen at the 5…would be ideal.

Painter has a few hours until the next game. That’s plenty of time to teach a zone to a team that never plays it and then practice it to perfection. I say go for it.

Last time I remember painter going with a zone was Robbie’s last game against Kansas in the tourney. I think that was in 2012. Maybe he’s done it since but I can’t remember.

Played it when AJ and Kendall was playing for about 4 or 5 games. Spent the summer before working with basil Mawby on it.
