Even a FF run won't bring him back. At that point, let him ride off into the sunset on a high note.Yeah once you’ve lost the 6 and 7 figure check guys, you usually don’t get them back.
Outside of a miracle FF run, which isn’t happening.

What's Trilly talking about now?If you guys put stock in Trilly this is a fascinating situation
Bloomington is more of a simple college town. Small town feel is what people love about it and it's got a beautiful campus. As for Rick... I'm sure he could find a restaurant around Bloomington with a table in a dark corner.🙄 But Lexington is still much more of an urban environment than Bloomington. Louisville is too. Both have great restaurants, finer dining, clothiers, and way more niceties than you could ever get in Trailer City.
IU might land Little Slick though.
Where was that in my post?So Tony Bennett and Jay Wright(both above Painter) aren't great coaches?
On second thought, if I relayed on this board what Trilly is saying, Purdue heads would explode, it would be 'troll and mock the IU fanbase time' even though it's Trilly (who I don't believe has any particular connection to IU) is saying it, and I would be quoted for the brunt of the trolling. So not going there. What's Trilly talking about now?
Brad Brownell? On second thought, if I relayed on this board what Trilly is saying, Purdue heads would explode, it would be 'troll and mock the IU fanbase time' even though it's Trilly (who I don't believe has any particular connection to IU) is saying it, and I would be quoted for the brunt of the trolling. I believe I saw that Purdue has defeated MSU in 9 of the last 10 played. If so, …..Paint just keeps getting better the more years he coaches. I said this before and I'll say it again. After Izzo leaves he will be the best coach in the B1G.
Half right. 🤣Brad Brownell?
Oh Stevens? I think Trilly is far from knowing and is just trolling the fan base cuz he knows he will get a ton of interaction.Half right. 🤣
Shhhh. Let them keep believing! It’s like a comedy special that’s released every 3/4 years.Oh Stevens? I think Trilly is far from knowing and is just trolling the fan base cuz he knows he will get a ton of interaction.
Trilly gets a crap ton of interaction from the IU fan base period. There probably isn't a close second for him.Oh Stevens? I think Trilly is far from knowing and is just trolling the fan base cuz he knows he will get a ton of interaction.
Michigan State hasn't been Michigan State since Winston left. They've not been able to replace him(no different than Indiana not being able to replace Yogi).I believe I saw that Purdue has defeated MSU in 9 of the last 10 played. If so, …..
Yeah but he then posted he was joking 🙃Trilly gets a crap ton of interaction from the IU fan base period. There probably isn't a close second for him.
Yeah, but Izzo's tournament succes and it's not even close. I love CMP, but I'm not foolish.I believe I saw that Purdue has defeated MSU in 9 of the last 10 played. If so, …..
He said once Izzo was goneYeah, but Izzo's tournament succes and it's not even close. I love CMP, but I'm not foolish.
Correct, I said that and he responded to my post.He said once Izzo was gone
As a Purdue fan I’d love them to hire Alford, that would be a terrible move, hoping they do it.Interesting!
As an IU fan I completely agree-IU hiring Alford would make Purdue fans very happy. But he’s not going to be considered. As a Purdue fan I’d love them to hire Alford, that would be a terrible move, hoping they do it.
Already is best coach in B1GWhere was that in my post?
As for Jay he was losing his 'edge' to coach nothing in regards to NIL. Tony understood he was trending downward and his lack of offense wasn't helping the program get better.
Paint just keeps getting better the more years he coaches. I said this before and I'll say it again. After Izzo leaves he will be the best coach in the B1G.
I love your enthusiasm, but don't be homer. I love CMP, but until Izzo is gone. He's the pinnacle of coaching in the B1G.Already is best coach in B1G
You forgot about all the trailer parks in the area!Bloomington is more of a simple college town. Small town feel is what people love about it and it's got a beautiful campus. As for Rick... I'm sure he could find a restaurant around Bloomington with a table in a dark corner.
There are multiple definitions of best. You clearly think it's accomplished. And that's okay. But that's not the only definition.I love your enthusiasm, but don't be homer. I love CMP, but until Izzo is gone. He's the pinnacle of coaching in the B1G.
Izzo:
726-299 overall record
8 FF's
10 B1G Champs
1 NC
26 consecutive tournaments
CMP:
466-209 overall record
1 FF
5 B1G Champs
0 NC
Yes, it's definitely a very fluid question/answer and can be determined by multiple things, timeline, success, etc. There are multiple definitions of best. You clearly think it's accomplished. And that's okay. But that's not the only definition.
Interesting response when married with this:Yes, it's definitely a very fluid question/answer and can be determined by multiple things, timeline, success, etc.
This is just my opinion, some will feel the same, some will not and putting CMP up with Izzo is a compliment. The only people that I tend to disagree with are usually IU fans that don't believe CMP is a top tier coach. If he's top 2 IMO in the conference this is exceptional and love that he's at Purdue.
It's a free board for people to discuss freely.
I love your enthusiasm, but don't be homer. I love CMP, but until Izzo is gone. He's the pinnacle of coaching in the B1G.
Once again. That's my opinion and I've been pretty clear.Interesting response when married with this:
Agreed, they can do a ton better than him. May or Beard in my opinion is there next Coach. As an IU fan I completely agree-IU hiring Alford would make Purdue fans very happy. But he’s not going to be considered.
Again, I'm good with you giving your opinion. Your original post implied you weren't good with the OP giving theirs.Once again. That's my opinion and I've been pretty clear.
You keep responded when not in the initial conversation. So, what's that say about you.
I'm ok with your opinion, but the OP can't have his opinion??? Got it!If it’s one of the largest and best fanbases in the nation, why have the balconies been largely empty several games this year?
Agreed, they can do a ton better than him(Alford).Agreed, they can do a ton better than him. May or Beard in my opinion is there next Coach.
26 consecutive tournaments might be the most impressive thing, to me. Did Coach K , Dean Smith, or Knight even do that ?I love your enthusiasm, but don't be homer. I love CMP, but until Izzo is gone. He's the pinnacle of coaching in the B1G.

Honestly, I don't know.26 consecutive tournaments might be the most impressive thing, to me. Did Coach K , Dean Smith, or Knight even do that ?

I know this is a lazy reply, but do we know when Izzo had his best run? I feel like CMP is right on the cusp of doing the same. Yes, we didn't win it all but we got there. We are expected to be there every year it seems. He has us an a special place and that's comforting. No, Tom Izzo currently holds the record at 26.
Krzyzewski had 24 and Smith had 23. Think Knight's longest streak was the last part of his tenure - '86 - '00 (15 years).
You have Self and Few I think as the next longest who are active coaches.
Impressive for all of them. I think the only realistic knock on Izzo's tournament record is his Final Four record of 3-7, lost six times in the semi-finals.....but hey, you get there eight times and at least win one - that's a helluva job in most people's view....
