IU trails UIndy at halftime!

It's an exhibition. If we aren't giving our exhibition game against a top 25 opponent at their place any weight, we can't make fun of the Loosiers for not handling the Sisters of the Poor at their place.

Their board sure gave ours a lot of weight. They were losing at half. They had scored like 8 points total with 10 mins to go in the first half. Then they finally woke up and hit shots. Woody musta torn into them.

IU having a great game against #1 Kansas. Fun game for an exhibition.

uI just beat Kansas by 7. Nice for the BIG but so what? Exhibition!

The IU threads starting early, even exhibitions I see. IU won’t be that good this year, why some worry about what they’re doing daily is odd to me. Look, I understand they’re Purdue’s rivals, however, it seems like some of our fan base hates IU more than they like Purdue. From IU sucks at football games to the non stop posting by some on here, I hate to say it, sometimes we do look like little brother. Being a die hard Sox fan it’s the same way with the Cubs, I guess I’m not a hater fan, I worry about my team, don’t care much what the other does unless I’m gambling on or against them, in IU’s case, especially early bet against!

The itch fron the two blowout losses where IU dominated Purdue start to finish last season lives deep in the anal cavity of some fans here.

You guys won nothing last year....especially with an all timer at center....we won both big ten titles....hurts I know bruh....
And then took the most embarrassing loss in NCAA tourney history. I guess if finishing 2nd is the trade off to getting a least 1 win in the NCAA tourney... Indiana fans will probably take it considering they were missing their PG for 2/3 of the season.

Keep tellin yourself they were blowout losses. You know what a blowout loss was? Miami over IU and St Mary’s over IU the year before.
Wasn't exactly a blowout, but Indiana controlled the game in Mackey basically the entire 2nd half without any real threat of losing.

Lol. IU loves to live in the past but then wants to all of a sudden talk about what they did currently (which spoiler alert hasn’t been much for two decades). IU finished 2nd, and if they had lost, they would have been down around 7th or 8th since the teams 2-8 we’re separated by a game. X wouldn’t have won IU any more games, but probably would have lost more because JHS wouldn’t have played as much. IU got swept by Iowa, Northwestern and Penn State and flopped in the BTT when they had an easy way. Wasted the career of two nba draft picks by accomplishing nothing.

Hang that banner!...beat Purdue twice, made it to the 2nd round....expectations have really fallen in loosierville....we're hoisting 2 banners from last year bruh....in our rebuilding year too....bet you're scared sh!tless about our potential this year....

When was the last time IU beat Purdue two times, yet it had zero impact on standings, rankings, or anything else for that matter? All it did was puff up a few trolls, but meant nothing because IU had such a pitiful season. …and they had so much hype at the start of the season! So sad.

Ooooh... a trolling contest -- Fun!!

Maybe if Braden Smith grows a few inches it will go better for Purdue against IU this year. Because Smith had trouble against IU in both of those games. OR, can Purdue transplant three inches of height from Willie Berg to Smith? Cause that'd do it and get Smith almost to 5'10". Maybe an arm extension transplant from Berg too. Or, maybe have Berg play point guard.

PS; hoping you get that pg recruit on Friday who is deciding between Wisky and Purdue.

Not a pg.....we'll beat iu twice with our backups this year....you guys can't score and had a tough time with uindy....you're gonna regret not accomplishing more with tjd around....

I see your troll and I’ll troll you one better!

Braden Smith had a better statistical freshman year than Yogi did in every category 👀👀👀👀

Would be very surprised if Smith avgs 16-17 the rest of his career like yogi tho 😂

Yogi would take Braden Smith down to the low post.
And Yogi was only 5'4", but unlike Smith, at least Yogi had the wingspan of a 5'7" player.

Beat IU with your backups? Does that mean you guys are finally going to unleash the Ethan Morton offense barrage on IU? Well that could change things. -- just remember; basketball genius Archibald Miller really wanted Morton at IU.

PS: I've read this board enough to have learned that TJD was an over-rated, one-handed, bad attitude player. So without that guy?

😂😂😂 it’ll be interesting to see how Braden pans out over the next 3 years.

But we both can relate that short guards, while good, can be disadvantaged. Especially, vs a 2-3 zone with guys a foot taller on top of that 2-3 zone.

oh sh!t. Now I'm having Jordy Hulls vs Syracuse flashbacks.

TJD was that way his first three years. But def got better his 4th.

And personally, I would hope 2 five stars and a high 4 star (was Reneau a 5?), with a 28 y.o. PG could beat our bench!

Morton would fit in on the iu team this year....can't shoot...decent defender....sounds like every player on IU's roster....

Tom Crean still trying to figure out a 2-3 zone…I can just see him like the Charlie from Its always Sunny meme, trying to connect different answers all over with string up on a board….(I know there’s a term for that haha)

Maybe a l i t t l e better. Company line was that he advanced to 'slightly over-rated, 1.25 handed, okay attitude'. And yet we persevered.

Xavier Johnson is only 27 (and 11 months).

And dammit, how many times does it have to be explained; it's not a star ranking contest! It's a contest for which coach can identify (very short and freakishly tall) players with *heart*.

Your post sounds like comments from your wife on the honeymoon. “Can we transplant 3”?”

Smith will be fine if he doesn't try to play out of his abilities. Yogi was a 5 star who got to walk in and start with 2 seniors, a junior and a sophomore, two of them being All-Americans and 2 being incredible shooters. Yogis sophomore year was really bad as a team. Biggest thing for Smith, and it was the same for Yogi... Quit jumping to pass.

Yeah the damn jump pass is what plagued Ivey too…especially vs St Peters.

But agree on smith being successful as long as it’s not more than his ability. And not saying he will be better than Yogi, but still impressive that his stats for a “low/un ranked” recruit were so high. I guess Purdue may have asked more of smith than IU asked of yogi his Frosh year, tho.

Smith exponentially outperformed expectations - he did great. He also seems self-aware enough to learn what his size will limit, and adjust and improve.

I think Purdue's biggest 'Smith worry' is who can run the offense when he's not in the game; whether it be because of injury or foul trouble.

Since this is an IU-centered thread, I'll give an example: IU was really hurt by Xavier Johnson's absence last year. Eventually Hood-Schifino and Galloway did a nice job filling in at the point, but IU really took some lumps when Johnson first went down.

With Purdue, I just don't see another viable option waiting in the wings; in four D1 seasons against lower level competition Lance Jones has never been able to play the point or have more assists than turnovers. He can defend the point, but apparently he just doesn't see the court or make decisions like a point guard. I guess that leaves Ethan Morton as the primary point guard when Smith isn't playing.

With all due respect... You opened and are reading a thread that was clearly labeled an IU thread. And you are posting in it, adding to its content. Maybe you care more than you are letting on.

Yeah all valid. That was a lot of our concern/still is. That’s why we need another guard for next year…but for this year, it was a bit troubling we didn’t get someone in the portal that could help smith out. He was gassed mid Feb and on…especially when teams were starting to press a lot and he tried breaking it himself.
