IU Football

I've been treated well by some pretty harsh (to some others) posters over here: Purdue85, mathboy, and Abugabby are routinely stand-up posters when I stop by and it is appreciated.

In my opinion? Purdue85, mathboy, and Abugabby get it--reserve harsh treatment for posters that merit it, and treat people with genuine intentions hospitably.

If that doesn't happen, the posters with good intentions won't stop by. Heck, for that matter, if that strategy is not followed, the Purdue posters with good intentions will stop by less too, and you're left with nastiness complaining about the nastiness they've attracted.

Anyway--I think that Plummer is pretty good and a steady hand where a football team needs one the most, that Bell is one of the top few receivers nationally, and that Purdue will likely surpass expectations this year (though those Purdue wins will be shootouts). Also think that predicting IU football's demise after one bad road loss to a ranked team is an overstatement.

But that's just my opinion--I'll bow out of this thread. Happy Tuesday to all!

My reply was re: your reference to IU fan sites (thus the pic), no mention of here whatsoever; I sincerely apologize about my "Box of Shame" comment, I mean that.

You're welcome here any time, you've earned it.

Picksix was incredibly overrated...perhaps the most overrated QB in the country for that matter, and, without question within the conference...with The Star a large part of the propaganda emanating from Gloomingtucky.

The ridiculous and delusional Heisman campaign ended immediately with the first game, which, is appropriate.

Appropriate that he was the "face of the program" in that his campaign was as fraudulent as all of the unwarranted hype surrounding the fraudulent program.
I'm sure JMV is busy cleaning up the Star tread marks on 'Pick Six Penix', even as I type.

Sure looks like a 1-2 start for the Hurling Hoosiers.

Does JMV have the stones to mention "Indinia" jersey? Maybe once, but odds are not ever again.

Does Jay?

Don't know about 'thumping', but IU is a good P5 football team. Played horribly on offense on Saturday. Defense was reasonably good, though Iowa's offense won't scare anyone.

The loss was only embarrassing if a fan gets embarrassed by a sporting event. Maybe the IU players and staff were embarrassed by the performance--that'd be healthy. I simply enjoy watching the Hoosiers play (though last Saturday was not as much fun as last year lol).

IU's schedule is incredibly front-loaded. If they can get through a top ten Cinci team, at Penn State, and OSU with a win (or maybe even two?) they will be in for 7/8 wins and an excellent season, and will support the current recruiting roll.
Not embarrased? Then you are in the minority.

Spell your school's name. Not the initials. Spell the entire name.

It probably got noticed on Saturday pre-game and a spare #33 jersey likely hadn't been packed; here's where your equipment manager and his staff need to step up and be quality (damage) control:
  1. cut two strips of athletic tape
  2. find red permanent marker
  3. color strips red
  4. tape red dash on second "N"
  5. tape red slash BETWEEN second "N" and third "I"
  6. be GRATEFUL it was only one jersey

Does it look good? No, but it looks better, and it's only a temporary fix that could avoid any potential embarrassment. Of course you have to understand this kind of stuff and have the desire to at least attempt to provide a solution. If you lack both or either traits, you're probably one prone to think "there's no such thing as bad publicity" or that it doesn't matter your school's athletic department doesn't know your school's colors.

It's Purdue Athletic Department's (very poor) choice to outfit our teams in Vegas gold, not Nike; it looks terrible, is far more egregious and is inexcusable as well. We should be demanding a change for the better.

Holy shiite! Not only are you spot-on with that uni likely being the only one in Iowa City for that player, but you also are smarter than the entire IU equipment staff with a reasonable fix. They didn't want to tell the player not to suit up, so rather than pull out a red Sharpie they released the poor kid onto the field with that jersey. While it's hard to like your post considering the photoshopped decal you put on the front of the helmet, otherwise--kudos.

Hey... sports is ultimately entertainment. Think of this jersey as IUFB's entertainment gift to the world

Hey, @ChoiceBeef , do you see that?? I am a nice guy. I really am...

Or that D-bag that was always on here around the same time he and Coach Geez got banned who said he was in he know and Gillis would be

Well of COURSE some IU fans puff up a bunch. Some fans of every school do that, especially on message boards.

BTW, IU beat three ranked teams last year (Penn State, Michigan, and Wisconsin on the road). I guess the counter to that is that they didn't stay ranked. For instance, because Indiana beat #18 Wisconsin on the road, Wisconsin finished 4-3 instead of 5-2. A 5-2 Wisky team would've been ranked. Too much mental gymnastics? Okay--understood, but IU beat three teams that were ranked at the time they played them. It's the B1G and there is no way to avoid ranked teams - especially when you go 6-1 in conference.

Will the Tom ALlen era be a mirage like Brohm's good year or an extended era of much better IU football? Brohm's best year at Purdue was 6-7 overall, 5-4 in conference. Allen now has two successive years of 8-5, 5-4 followed by 6-2, 6-1. It's absolutely possible it will slide into the usual IU football sadness but I'm not thinking that's likely. If that's "chest thumping" then so be it!

Finally, for those who want to keep this board to Purdue football talk only -- I get it. But I'm okay with threads about other teams or college football generally on my IU board. This thread is specifically designed for that purpose and purduepat1969 called for a response. If you guys don't want IU fans to comment, no worries -- I get it and the mods should shut it down.

Peace
Not to worry, Penix actually had a pretty good game,

..., if you're an Iowa fan.

ChoiceBeef seems easy to get along with, for about everyone.

We need more posters like him, & fewer troublemakers, trolls & multiple name posters. I don't trust most posters who must use multiple names to communicate their message(s).

Btw, I have never had/needed more than a single name on a board at one time.

Looks like if you get banned a lot, you might want multiple names to have in reserve. Not good/honest.

Exactly. One of the dudes on here that starts an annoying amount of threads on here has been banned I think multiple times by GBI. It’s hard to get banned by GBI. They seem to have a lot of patience. On here it’s pretty simple.”Don’t be a Dick”

Yes, we/posters can disagree, without being disagreeable/viscous. I admit I lose my temper at times on this board, but 99% of the time, I take the bait/taunting insults from a few select (1 or 2?) other posters (who have multiple names at one time) who start the rudeness. It's the same one who got me banned 5/6 yrs. ago, by doing about the same thing then. If he works for this board in any way, I feel very sorry for his employers, very sorry.

If THAT is what it takes to turn a profit, God help us all.

Honestly, I think these message boards would be better off/make more money, by being up front with all posters, & about not allowing multiple names by a single poster, at one time. Initially, revenue might fall a little, but once new & existing (honest) posters saw the new/positive changes, revenue/new accounts & posts would start to pour in more than ever.

When posters are allowed to intentionally insult other posters, just to get a (often negative) reaction post in return/more clicks to please advertisers, this will eventually catch up with the insulters, board managers & owners, all too soon.

Yep. There’s been Dudes (current and former) that can’t get along with multiple (really anyone) guys over at KHC. Eventually get banned and come over here with a new name. There are some guys over there that seem to always want to start trouble , but for the most part the guys are pretty good. My thing is if you truly don’t like GBI and all then don’t come here and post. I don’t always agree with Tom , but overall am happy for what he does and the info we get from. Him and especially Brian give us a lot of good insight and info on our Boilers. I am also thankful that us Boiler fans can come here and talk. And also talk some crap about the Hoosiers as well. 😂 Too may guys come here to start crap , then get pissed when they are called on it , don’t learn and then get banned. Somehow it’s GBI’s fault. No it’s there fault for being too dumb , or arrogant to understand the rules.

Wouldn't it be great if posters from other college schools could visit boards from other teams, including rivalry boards, just talk sports/basketball, then go on about their business. This does happen some, but usually veteran posters like ^%$^&/you know who(m) will immediately attack them, starting an unneeded back & forth insult barrage, which isn't necessary/always profitable/sane.

Do I hate IU/anything/anyone? No.

Would I like IU & all other Purdue opponents to lose every game by at least 100 points or more? Yes.

I learned long, long ago not to hate anything or anyone. Letting things like that continue to build up inside you, is not good for you, or anyone/anything.

Now, if we can just get the IU Star to adopt my 'fairness & honesty' policy?

Btw, I asked the board moderator if I could change my board name, about two weeks ago. I'm still waiting for a reply/yes. That name is a long, long story, but has nothing to do with me being or having ever been an IU fan, nothing. The hillbilly thing, I did in memory of my grandfather from Western NC./foothill country, who was a 'moonshiner', & ran corn liquor from Alexander Co., NC, to Marion Co./Indianapolis in the 1920's. My mom is from northeastern Georgia/foothill country to the great Smokey Mtns., yep, more hillbilly country, but nicer people, you will never find.

The ui part in my handle, has nothing to do with IU. Hey, it's ui, not iu or IU.

Go Boilers!!! :)

Just keep posting like you have been. Your IU handle will get banned and you'll be able to log on with one of your other screen names, like IUhaterade. 😁

Yep, you're the nut job poster Rowdy kept mentioning earlier, who's been banned here more times than you have fingers.

You got me banned 5/6 yrs. ago. It started with a Wisconsin vs Purdue basketball game, pregame. Wisconsin was favored, & I mentioned Purdue should not overlook Wisconsin. You blew your top, accused me of being a Badger fan, & it was on. Seriously, why so many different names? Are you up to 7 or 8 now? Yikes, not good/sane! I'm on I-70, westbound, Holt Rd. overpass, emptying my ashtray. Hey, back to work/picking up those butts. :)

BoilerAndy = IUhaterade = BBG = gd4now, ect., ect...

Seriously, why do you pretend to be military? I have many relatives & friends in the military, & you disgrace all who serve, served & want to serve. Why so many names IUhaterade/Eve?

Btw, good luck with those cigarette butts along I-70/"work"

Sleep tight :)

That would have been the WORST mistake of all, to not dress the player; I'm glad (for him) that he did dress -- and my opinion has nothing to do with getting typo exposed either.
When I saw your like I started to think "JM didn't notice the nose bumper "Let's Observe Spelling Errors" update... nah, he saw it, he just likes the spirit of my message, not the nose bumper." (I gotta be consistent) 😇

You're consistently charming and debonair, even when you're sipping your Kool-Aid here, so you're better than I am. I admit I can be harsh at times, but most of my posts are intended for a specific target audience and I have no regrets whatsoever.

I'd never think I was "smarter" than any staff, and I'm not, but using critical thinking skills whenever an unexpected problem arises in any work situation determines whether or not you can solve the problem: make the best effort, DO something to make it better.

I saw the tweet on Saturday and thought "Some Vietnamese child sewed 2 letters out of place and now it's out of the bag because of social media, this could turn into IU's "Pur-Don't" moment." For the record, "Pur-Don't" never bothered me, though it does remind me of the 1976 Old Oaken Bucket game.

Well, I'm off to be "consistent" on another thread here.

7. Tell the Indinia Football social media manager not to put a photo of the #33 jersey on Twitter.

Yeah, if that was the post full of self-righteous indignation, someone deserves an ass-chewing.

Wouldn't the most convenient solution to the problem have been to cover the wrong spelling with Athletic Ankle tape? That would of at least matched the background white of the jersey.
From Team Mgr to position coach to Head Coach. Somebody solve the problem and not let that young man out of the locker room without fixing that.
It doesn't take Rocket Science to fix that, it takes maybe $.10 strip of tape.
Instead, they become the butt of jokes that will torment them the rest of the season. IU gets what it deserves with this blunder.
