IU fans classless again

You can't be that dumb. You are arguing just to argue. For something that is not that big of a deal (according to you), you sure are wasting a lot of time discussing it.
He’s for sure off his rocker and just arguing to see any reply whatsoever. That’s all he cares about, the reply ie, interaction. It’s so bad that he is arguing with himself on the IU board. At first, I thought it was a failed attempt to cover his tracks and prove Tim isn’t Trojan. Sadly, it became evident that he indeed was arguing amongst his seemingly infinite multiple personalities.

But its not funny. Do we really live in a world that you explain to your kids that if a young women dates two guys over a couple of years that she can be referred to as "sloppy seconds" and its okay? What some on this board don't get is that its more demeaning to the young women than it is to the players and its just wrong!

You’re too dumb to argue with.

Sexual harassment? The chant was directed at the St. John’s player, not the female who was 800 miles away on her college campus. The male player was getting made fun of, not the women, hence “sloppy seconds”.

You my friend are an HR nightmare. Doesnt matter who the chant is directed towards. Its about her, she can hear it. Its like i am talking to a fellow Boiler fan but call you the dumbest idiot i have ever met, you turn around and are offended and my response is I wasnt talking to you. Are you purposely this dumb? I know its not IU, plenty of grads from there are intelligent, one of my best friends is an IU grad who is an orthopedic surgeon, but I guess troll mentality. I will never get the mentality and find it hilarious you cant see how chanting sloppy seconds isnt offensive to the girl friend. Its being so purposefully color blind.

I live nearly 2.5 hours from Bloomington (in a different state) and I wouldn't by shocked if my future son got more ass than you by the time he was 8 than you have in your entire life.

Such is life Andy.
And there it is. You talk about your 8-year-old son having sex? I doubt that even your neighbors in your trailer park would wonder at this. Like I said, IU fans think differently about their mothers and sisters -- and apparently their sons -- than normal people do.

Future son, Andy.

Again, you fail to consider that it should never be necessary to have to explain the slur against the young woman to a small child. It amazes me that this has to be explained to you! Under what rock were you raised?

Ha ha. I've been banned from Peegs or whatever it's called now for about 6-7 years. They were the original "Cancel Culture"
Peegs decided it was too good for the people that posted there- so they left them all behind when they moved to 247

That's because IU fans are more like their KY cousins than like the rest of Indiana residents.

exactly this. Sorry if this goes over the line, but I cannot stomach the defense of this chant... the chant clearly refers to (serial) intercourse with multiple guys... but it's supposedly only directed at that 2nd guy.

Holy sh*t

Still here, still not Trojan.
Good to know you are not Trojan. Only the mods can confirm that by looking at your IP address. I don't care. Trojan would argue endlessly and move his position about just to get responses. It was sort of a sad clinic on a guy trying his best to get attention anyway he could. You seem to demonstrate some of those characteristics.

As for the "Sloppy Seconds" chant. It is not a defensible position to say it is okay. Nothing about it is okay. It is a personal and sexual harassment attack on both the woman and the player who is a relationship with her. Nothing about it makes it not offensive and not personal. It is almost as bad as the racist chants against a Maryland player a couple years ago, and the limited but still audible chants about Haas' sister.

I think IU needs to clean up their act before they add to an already besmirched reputation... and I happen to be an IU fan of sorts.

You still think you can prove someone’s identity by their IP address?

If I was that girls dad, and one of those punks chanting that filth was anywhere near me… I’d probably be hauled out in cuffs Leary-style.

I am amazed by the ridiculous attempts at trying to justify the chant at the St. John's game done over on their site. "Our friend" Trojan is trying very hard to do so.

Here is a post of his:

"And what are your thoughts on Purdue fans chanting “alcoholic” at Coverdale? You had a west Lafayette newspaper saying it was a great thing!"

If ever there was an example of "...you cannot compare apples and oranges..." then this is it.

Reviewing the facts: Coverdale was arrested for having broken the law. That is a matter of public record. He made a legal transgression. That means that people have the right to take note of it and express their displeasure. That is why you get fined or imprisoned depending upon the law that you violated.

This young woman who was attacked has done nothing wrong. She dated Person A and later Person B. What causes her to be made the target of slurs and insult? Their is no allegation that she has acted improperly.

A bit of a difference, Trojan, they are wildly dissimilar. And if you cannot see that you do not have a gerundive clue.

It also makes the assumption that I will vouch for every cheer/chant that Purdue does just because I'm a Purdue fan. I certainly don't. I think the "IU Sucks" thing is stupid, juvenile, and does exactly the thing that IU fans say it does, prove that many of our fans are pre-occupied with them. I've argued with many people on this site, mostly on KHC, who claim it is just "fun". Clearly, those people have a lower standard for fun than I do.

Having said that, most of the drivel that I've heard IU fans accuse Purdue fans of doing/saying is unsubstantiated and, while some of those unsubstantiated accusations could be real, they are usually focused on a few individuals that they claim to have observed personally. I have no doubt we have some jackasses in our fan base that are capable of representing us poorly. Every fan base does.

There's a big difference between unsubstantiated accusations focused on a few individuals (which should also be dealt with if proven true) and mass chants by thousands that can be clearly deciphered by everyone in attendance or watching on TV. IU can choose to deal with it or not, and their fans can choose to defend it or not. But there's no argument as to what actually happened. Fortunately, some IU fans are actually embarrassed by it.

If he is not Trojan, he must be Trojan's little brother. Same obsession with Purdue and same style of pointless arguments on the Purdue board.

I'm with you on all your post on the subject but I would point out the chant "IU Sucks" really isn't personal to specific individuals. The chant in question is very personal and being the parent of college age girls/women I know it would be embarrassing/humiliating to them. I'm not saying I like the IU Sucks chant but its not the same thing.

I love the “IU Sucks” cheer. It makes me smile. Just like I love the fact that we have a special acronym just for iu: POTFH

Yep a juvenile chant... say what's that profile picture you have?

I like the cheer. It may be juvenile but it is a student section of 18-22 year olds so what do you expect? They are our biggest rival and their fan base is deserving of the chant. It is fun. And you say you have a higher standard of fun. Guy, it’s a sporting event with jacked up fans. What standard of fun do you want people to meet? I did agree that the sloppy seconds cheer isn’t appropriate but I didn’t get up in arms about it. Just said you can’t control everything everyone does or says

Just saw this on YAHOO!

"Logan Duncomb is suspended three games for an undisclosed violation of team rules..."

No more details were given. I wondered why he didn't play tonight.
