IU fans classless again

While typical, isn't this considered to chauvinist or slut-shaming? I thought that was a no-no on a "woke" campus today. Our "friend"' (lackof)courtsense will undoubtedly claim that this chant never happened.

The good news is that the chant wasn’t as loud as it would have been had the arena been full.

What about the insults hurled on the Purdue board at a 16 year old earlier this week?
1.) at a 16 year old, or about a 16 year old? They aren't the same thing
2.) I didn't see them so I am not exactly sure what you are talking about

If you as parent can't explain what "sloppy seconds" means to an 8 year old in the most juvenile way possible, that's on you. But then again, it isn't surprising as you think college aged kids chanting sloppy seconds is offensive.
I can’t believe I agree with you on anything but you’re right. Sloppy seconds being chanted is mild compared to some things being shouted at games. Besides, like someone else said, you can just say that you don’t know when your kid asks. Now if it’s you saying it in front of a young kid then there’s a problem.

That would be lying to your kid xD

Right. One person saying it in front of a young kid, there's a problem. Thousands of people chanting it in the presence of hundreds of kids, no issues. Logic at its finest.

I live nearly 2.5 hours from Bloomington (in a different state) and I wouldn't by shocked if my future son got more ass than you by the time he was 8 than you have in your entire life.

Such is life Andy.
He very well may as he ends up on the Jerry Springer show.

Seriously, are you 21? That was the last time anyone I hung out with thought it was cool to have as many sexual partners as possible. Most grew out of it sometime in high school.

Right......like I said, you're straight garbage. Learn how to act in public "dude".
I’d be utterly floored if you told me you’ve left your parents basement and ventured out into public more than twice this month.

Don’t lecture me on public decorum.

I’m not saying that saying the phrase is right but unfortunately kids will hear much worse in their childhood and mostly on the bus. Just as long as you the parent aren’t teaching them that or encouraging it. Ok?

Not all of us want to raise our kids to be ghetto trash like HoosierTrash.

It looked to be maybe 60% full at the most, and that’s been the norm for years. The lack of support and popularity for that program is at an all time low. Their game last week wasn’t even televised, a testament to their plummeting popularity. Regardless, you wouldn’t think they would endorse such behavior among alums and students, but that’s what happens when standards of conduct are non existent. It’s the Assembly Hall version of opening the football stadium with days old bird poop covering a large percentage of the seats. Not all of their fans cared about sitting in that, but some might have. Right?

Me neither. I’m just saying you aren’t around them 24/7 so unfortunately they are probably going to hear things that are bad. It’s up to us as parents to steer them in the right direction and teach them right from wrong. If someone is that concerned about their child hearing something then they probably shouldn’t take them to a game with college students

A certain IU “fan” has gone so far as to make up an official release from the IU Athletic Department concerning
last night’s student and fan behavior at their game. Unfortunately for this person, he neglected to proofread what he wrote, and it contains at least one typo. Of course, it’s possible the IU Athletic Department released the statement with the typo, but that would be incredibly unprofessional and reflective of a poorly run organization. Either way, it’s amateur hour at that place. No wonder it resides near the bottom of the BiG’s academic rankings.

The IU Athletic Department was made aware of an incident involving the student section on the night of Nov 18. 21," "The alleged incident was reviewed by law enforcement, campus officials and the athletics department. These students are America's future leaders an outstanding representatives of this university, and it's unfortunate that they have to address accusations made that do not have merit and are unfounded. We consider the matter closed."

Anyone who reads this realizes it wasn’t released by the IUAthletic Department, and would never come out of any professional organization with the most basic of standards. From abbreviations to typos, it’s always funny to catch these idiots being, well, idiotic.

What case? There isn't case to be made. I don't think it's classless and vulgar. You aren't going to change my mind.
I would not even attempt to change your mind as you are a fool. As an American, you are entitled to your opinion but you should realize that you are part of a very distinct and very small minority.

Here are the unchallenged facts:

1. the IU fans made the chant;
2. it was heard over the tv;
3. a story about it was written in a major New York City newspaper;
4. the newspaper in question is the oldest in the country, founded by Alexander Hamilton, and is located in the largest city in the USA and the central media center;
5. it was described as vulgar in the story and headline; (not just my opinion but that of the author and editor)
6. it was certainly inappropriate, especially since it is reported that the girl's family was in attendance; and
7. it is derogatory and demeaning to the girl in question. It held her up to ridicule and shame for no transgression on her part.

If you think that this makes IU look good and that it is not an embarrassment to the university then you are dumber than I think that you are. My expectation is that the university administration will be shortly made to make a public apology to her and her family for this incident. At least that would be the proper thing to do.

You really are a foolish person. The point is that YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT TERM TO AN 8-YEAR OLD IN ANY MANNER, JUVENILE OR NOT.

1) about a 16 year old, it's the same feaux outrage being displayed on here. I was being pedantic to show how hypocritical all of you are

2) I listed them earlier, but a 16 year old on this board was called:

"a douchebag)

"Neil Reed (who's dead) inbred cousin"

"has the most punchable face since Will Sheehey"

Classy bunch here, very vulgar and classy-like.
Beside being foolish, you are also only semi-educated. The word that you wanted to use is "faux", not "feaux". Also, "punchable" (sic) and "inbred" are admittedly insulting, but they are not vulgar. In the future, try to use words correctly.

Bet she laughed and the sun came up today.

This isn't really even an issue if the St. John's Barstool Twitter account hadn't aired the dirty laundry in the first place and I'm guessing if it was that big of a deal the tweet that aired the dirty laundry would have been deleted rather quickly.

Don't ever overestimate a college students desire for clout.

Yes, women often laugh at sexual harassment. I love how your explanation the chanting wasnt at her means she cant hear then or her parants can hear the classless chant. I wont defend Purdue when they do dumb things, you shouldnt defend IU when they do dumb things too.

Why would anyone assume that she did not hear the chant? Her boyfriend was playing a televised game in her home state and her parents were going to the game. You wouldn't think that she might watch it? If I knew someone who was playing a nationally televised game and I could not attend I would certainly try to see it on tv. I do not believe that is an atypical view.

You’re too dumb to argue with.

Sexual harassment? The chant was directed at the St. John’s player, not the female who was 800 miles away on her college campus. The male player was getting made fun of, not the women, hence “sloppy seconds”.

Ah, no. The chant was offensive, and was directed at both the player and his girl friend. Thanks for your opinion Trojan, but you are wrong here. IU fans embarrassed themselves and their university again. I do wish someone would think through these chants before doing them on National TV. Really.

Well, like many other IU fans, he never claimed to be an alumnus...not that it would make much difference.

I'm curious how a "sloppy seconds" comment/chant fails to poke fun, even indirectly, of the girl involved. Without devaluing the girl, the comment doesn't effectively make fun of the guy.

You’re right, The problem with sloppy seconds is that it’s obviously a slight on the girl for being kinda slutty and a milder put down on the guy for using someone else’s fluid as a lubricant. In this instance I don’t think that was their intention because it wasn’t the same night so I kinda give them a break but chants from the crowd are usually better if you don’t have to take a swipe at a third party at the same time.

Knock yourselves out on the McD and DUI related chants, unfortunately those guys deserve them. However, the only time I ever talked to Purdue cops was at that damn McDonalds. Dude took my bag of food off the counter and I had paid for it.

You can't be that dumb. You are arguing just to argue. For something that is not that big of a deal (according to you), you sure are wasting a lot of time discussing it.
He is Trojan I think, back in another name. The mods may already have caugh5 him, so he might not respond.

These guys are bizarre. As I documented yesterday, A prominent poster at their Rivals site, who’s been banned here on multiple occasions, went to the trouble of drafting a fake media release from the IU Athletic Department in an effort to rationalize all of this, no doubt because of their history of boorish student and fan behavior. Strange, strange people.

Defend this all you want, but IU fans forfeit the ability to whine and complain when they’re on the other end of classless stuff like this. And no fan base whines and complains more (see the constant sobbing about “IU Sucks!”). But there’s been far, far worse directed at opposing teams through the years at IU. “Sloppy seconds” isn’t even on the Dishonorable Mention list.
"IU SUCKS" is one of the greatest cheers in all of college athletics.
First, because it's factually accurate and second, because it really, really upsets Indinia fans.

Coming from the fan base on this very form whose comments about IU's newest 16 year old recruit are as follows:

"Looks like a total douchebag"

"Easily has the most punchable face since Will Sheehey"

"Look's like Neil Reed's inbred cousin"

"offspring of Kathy Griffen and Neil Reed"

Forgive me for saying you're the biggest hypocritical piece of shit on the entire Rivals platform spanning over 20 usernames in a decade time. I don't really care what you have to say, Ordfan.

Those are actually pretty funny. Especially the inbred Neil Reed cousin one. Thanks.
